Heater core on the 85 Z/28 finally took a dump on the way home from Salem today, lucky for me I actually brought a set of tools...Anyways, I took the hoses that connect to the heatercore at the firewall out. I also removed the pressure line (manifold) and return line (water pump). I took a short length of that hose and ran it from the manifold back into the water pump. the hose was a little crimped in one section but I managed to drive it all the way home like that and it didn't overheat.
My Temp gauge is shot, so I dont know how hot the engine got, but it didn't start detonating and didn't stall. My question is even with the crimp in it, is it ok to have it like that? Will I be hurting coolent flow in the engine? If I am, then I'll go get a Elbow fitting for the manifold side and that'll get rid of the crimp in the hose.
Sometime around early september I'm taking the motor/trans/rear out of that car and putting it in the berlinetta, so I don't really want to bother with a new heater core for a car I'm just going to sell as a rolling chassis in another month. _________________

| It will work fine. You can also plug both of the heater ports on the pump and manifold and get rid of the hose. |
