Watching very close now a special car (to me anyway)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4646918506&fromMakeTrack=true
One of 99 imported into Canada. (He faxed me the GM Canada Docs, totaly legit)
From what you see below, do you think 280 hp is possible?
Owner told me this ( he is french I think so pardon the grammer)
"The motor, before some modifications, was in perfect shape. An specialist, a guy you make motors for race and drag car, make a refresh to the mechanic: Cam, rocker arms, all hose, wire, prestone box, hood isolation. All the block was dismantle, made a sandblast, repaint. The motor look and run like a new. He add chip and headers. He made a refresh of the transmission and add a shift kit. New Edelbrock Cat back exhaust..... I put 9000 or 10 000 on the mechanic. It's a match number and before made some modifications, i ask to the professional who made evaluation if i can and if this modif. change the value of the car. The car have about 280HP and made, with 2 persons in and regular fuel, the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 101mph, before the shift kit, with the standard 700R4 transmission.
Yannick "
Thanks,

Mmm the sounds of russian mafia.
All kidding aside, watch yourself with foreign dealers,
My family has had many a run in with totally legit "russian" or eastern european sellers.
Any dealer has a story about them. I personally have had 3 rebuilt titles throwbacks with the local russian crew.
Just my .02 cents. _________________

Uhh.... Canada = Russia now?
I'd say anytime you're buying cars sight-unseen, you're setting yourself up for potential trouble.
As for the original topic, it all depends on how much you want the Recaro edition, as that's basically what you're paying for. The performance of that 305 is not worth 5 G's. |

With all the bowing down to the TTA's and other supposedly rare Firebirds, this is the 3rd gens best kept secret.
For every 50 TTA's there is 1 Recaro Option TA in the shadows.
And it may remain so for a while, to my pleasure
85 LB9s kick booty (from the factory) This guy took it a step further.
Im not buying horsepower, Im buying a classic here, the HP query was just to see if it was possible to get that power and those times with what he built.
Thanks for the input |

| The 101mph trap indicates a good hp increase from stock. His 280 hp number isn't unrealistic at the crank. |
