has anyone on here done this?
i have the following parts so far:
pads
calipers (used, i am going to paint them red )
caliper carrier ( i think)
hubs
i know in order to do this i must modify my spindle, but my question is this: can i run the 98+ hubs or do i need to have my currend rotors turned down? the lug pattern is the same. so whats the difference? thanks guys.
i am going to post this over on TGO as well. |

I'm pretty sure the ls1 hubs bolt to the 4thgen spindle where as ours don't.
In which case you won't be able to use them on your bird. You'll have to have some junk stock rotors turned down. And you'll also need the brackets that adapt those caliper carriers (abutment brackets) to your spindles. _________________

No, those are the brackets that adapt your spindles to the abutment brackets. The abutments are what the caliper actually sit in.
It uses a different setup than our thirdgens. A full floating caliper that is bolted to a separate bracket and then to the car. |

Carrier/Abutment
Caliper sitting in abutment bracket.
Those brackets in your picture bolts to the back side of the carrier to those big ass bolt holes and then to your spindle. |

the carrier abutment i need is a stock one right? i can get that at the stealership?
EDIT* so i was just comparing your calipers to mine, the only difference is that your cooling fins extend farther then mine. and of course the "corvette" lettering and ret shinyness.
i don't care though, i am calling my brakes "Corvette" brakes. and if any of you gives me any lip i will cut you. i'll cut you so bad.... you will wish i no cut you so bad. |

Yeah. You want the part number for them?
12455799
Are the standard ls1 calipers aluminum as well?
I think you'd do better with the ls1's aesthetically, anyways. You can get decals in the same font that says TRANS AM and I'm sure a competant decal shop could cut you up one that said GTA or something.
EDIT: And that gear looking stuff is for the ABS sensor. |

all you will be able to make out through GTA wheels are the basic shape anyway. i am not too concerned with what they say.
it would kick ass if they said TRANSAM on them though i could write on them with a sharpie wouldn't a decal quickly melt away? i could make a stencel and paint "TRANS AM" on it in white after i paint them red. that would be cool |

se EBmiller88 on TGO says that these are the wrong brackets and hubs. he says these are C5 brackets, but has offered to trade me streight accross, my brackets and hubs for the right brackets and hubs.
am i going to get ripped of here or is this legit? |

Damn. I already ordered my c5 brackets or I would've just bought those from you.
I'm pretty sure either caliper with interchange. The brackets themselves just locate the thing in a different location. Meaning he thinks those will locate the caliper on a 13" rotor and not the ls1's 12.x rotor. |

IMO, from everything I have seen, Ed should be a pretty safe bet to do business with.

i ment like, are the C5 brackets worth twice as much... i realy don't know why i am freaking out though. i got all this stuff for free . i am going to PM him and say it's a go. think i'll order the braided steel lines, erls speed bleeders, calliper carriers and possably rotors from him as well.
yeah, he was great with my PBR swap. i was able to get rotors fro m him cheaper then locally, including my NAPA discount. callipers too, mostly due to the "core charge" the parts stores charge. |
