I'd like to get one, but that's a hell of a lot of money for what basically boils down to a stick and a cable. Rolling Eyes

I really wanted to use that shifter because it has a pontiac heritage(gto's had his n' hers shifters), but I too couldnt pay that price. From the reviews i've read it seems to have the same drawbacks as the megashifter. You have to cut up the console and make it fit.

I have a new one that I haven't installed yet sitting on my shelf. I can't say anything for the operation yet but the quality is very nice. IMO it is the best looking auto shifter out there for a thirdgen. I bought mine through jegs a while ago...might be cheaper.

Are you thinking of selling it anytime soon, or are you going to install it?

I think I'm going to put it in my vert. I'm not to interested in selling because I'll end up taking a loss on the shipping and brokage I paid to get it over the boarder.

year one is a pricy place, and i will never buy anything from them if i dont have to (not to mention their shipping rates are crazy). you can get the same thing from summit racing for alot less:

If I'm not mistaken, this is like the Hurst dual gate shifter. Left side is normal automatic and right side is semi-manual.

Edit: After looking again, there is the Hurst logo on the top.

Why me why me?

Yeah, that's the Hurst Dual Gate shifter.

The idea is that the left shift pattern works similer to the stock pattern, however if you switch it to the right side you can select each gear manually.

Found one that goes back a few years. Anybody remember the '83 & '84 Hurst Olds with the Lightnig Rod Shifter?

Uhhh.... WTF is that thing? Surprised

Edit: Damn.... that is kinda wierd. I would think it would be annoying trying to jockey so many levers.

Idea was to leave all three levers forward for normal automatic. Manual started with all three levers back for 1st, throw the right forward for 2nd, center forward for 3rd and the left for 4th/OD. I think they were interlocked so you couldn't go out of order. Almost bought a Hurst Olds new with this in it in '83, but decided against it for the insurance and payments.

That is nothing. You should try a Lenco tranny.

You want levers on your standard gearbox?

This one will hold well over 1000HP.

Good luck finding a ratchet type shifter for $160 and keeping your woman who drives the car more than you do happy!

I've actually seen one of those driven. Actually it's a cool idea, although I'm not sure how they do on the street.
