Got my new gear reduction ministarter on the Camaro this afternoon and was so pleased that I gave her a bath. Need to wax and polish the wheels again, but overall not too bad for spending most of the winter outside.

Looking good!
But spring arrived last week! I haven't put the top up in at least that long. Front end damage or do you like the bra? Usually only see that on nose damaged cars. _________________

Front end is pretty ugly. No I don't like the bra.
She's running OK. Has never ran great since last fall when I did plugs and dissy cap and other stuff. Think I have a bad distributor cap. With this starter I am going to limit the mechanical advance in the distributor to 14 - 16* and then run the base timing 20 - 22. Should make for a lot better idle.
Guess I'm just like the rest of you guys, gotta do some tuning. |

I know the feelin with it not running quite right. I am not sure if it's cam and setup or if it's something else that makes things a little jerky at 1500rpm. This engine has never ran that low other than just in crossing from the stall converter.
Be careful with that much base timing. You might not be able to start it very well. |

I think I just need a good tune up. No more yard sale dissy caps for me.
On the timing, that's why I just bought a 1.9 hp Nipedenso motor, 4 : 1 gear reduction bad boy of a starter( Insert Tim the tool man grunt here). Last night I let it warm up good and then moved the timing up to around *20 base and shut it off. Let the heat soak in nice and she spun over just like it was set at *10.
Thanks for the kind words but it's still a 50 foot car. Pictures can just make her pretty if she's clean. |
