pulled the ECM and Emission Harness off my Recent purchase, the 85 Z/28. Its a LG4 with a 5 speed. Tony and I couldn't get the car to start once we removed the emission harness. I went out and tweaked with it today and got it to fire, but it missfires horribly and is super rich...(the car was burning very rich before, but this seems worse). I am converting to a regular 4 barrel carb (thinking a non CC Q-jet or Holley Street Avenger for now) and either a point style or HEI distributor. Is there a way to improve the way it runs now? Its almost completely undrivable now.. No no no... Drove it around the block, and when I shut it off it took two tries because it was "dieseling" so badly.

Also, my fuel EVAP cannister is shot....should I keep the EGR when I switch over to a regular carb and HEI or points distributor?

Any suggestions or things I should look out for?

As soon as you remove the ECM from a CCC carb there is nothing left to operate the metering rods. They go full rich. Either put it all back or swap the carb/distributor now.
