I need both sides done, especially the driver's door, sags a bit when opened and movement isn't smooth anymore. Really chewing up the top edge of the GFX when the door opens/closes. I'm hoping it's the pins and bushings. |

I actually looked into this a bit when I first bought my car, since the drivers door is pretty crapped out. However replacement pins go for $75 per door. The problem is that every JY door I've ever seen is as bad, or worse, than mine. ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

.......just like your 2.8L brandon.........I had an extra door that had a huge dent in it, hinges were in pretty good shape..........but its been gone for a couple months now.
I don't think the lower hinge unbolts from the door, I don't know if brandon wants the pin with the roller bushing and the spring but you might have to Sawzall the whole hinge off the door..... _________________

I don't feel like running out and checking right now, but I belive that Chevy bolted the hinge to the door, and welded it to the body. So bring your torch, Tony. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

other way around. Welded to the door, bolted to the body. This is why its a 'removable' body pannel. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________

You can get hinge bushings at any auto store. Shucks has them for sure. Replaced mine on my 92 works great. Diffently saves you some time and money. Only runs like 5-10:00 fior the lower bushing kit.
TDS has them but I guess they are expensive. Look on TGO tells you how to do the repair. _________________ kurfbird

Yeah, TDS wants $75 for each kit. I have yet to hear a bad review of the kit itself, but I don't have that kind of bank to throw around. |

The TDS kit and the Napa bushings are different things.
If you look at the hinges, there are pin and bushing hinges and then fixed hinges. The top hinge is usually the culpret and requires the kit. |

I hear and that is what was bad on mine. It normally the lower bushing. I even picked one upon ebay for 8.00 Check TGO forsure. I just didthe lower bushing and it fixed my problem. If it works for less than 10.00 dollars. Your good. If its the upper youw ill know at that point.
Also have soemone lift upand down on the door and look at the lower pin. That is where the wear is it. If you see slop then you need the bushing kit. _________________ kurfbird

I've seen many bad lower bushings. Replaced them, and had it better, but not fixed. It was always the top hindge that needs to be drilled out.
This was on 3 different maros. |

He's right. Really the top hinge has the least support with just the bushings. I've seen the regular parts store kits, they're ok. I'd rather pay the $75 and get the one from TDS or Year One (they're the same). Xophertony used it and it put the door on his old bird back to factory alignment. The Extra $ for the quality part is often worth it to avoid the headache or the cheap replacement not working right. _________________

You'd be better off using a battery powered sawzall and cutting part of the door skin and then worry about cutting the rest off later. _________________

My upper hinges seem to be OK. I don't care if I have to rebuild the replacement hinge either. Beings its the lower one its the cheap one to build. The door holder roller is totalled out on my hinge. so thats the half I need. |
