i am pretty sure the alternator is bad on the 2.8. seems like i have to jump it once a week (known good battery, came out of the GTA). alternator only reads like 12.5 with engine @ 3k. little less at idle. reads around 10 or less with headlights on.
normally an alternator is somthing i would only replace with new... but i am sick of putting money into this car. i am trying to sell it.
anyway, so if anyone has a used vbelt alt i can buy that would be cool |

Try the junkyard, they can test to see if it works, and it's cheaper than a rebuilt. |

This is of course assuming that thier "test" means anything. I actually had a junk yard ruin an electric motor "testing" it off of a battery. |

if one of the crewbies does not have one i think i will probably test it myself before leaving. ie drive car with failing ALT to junkyard, remove ALT, bring in for comparison, install "new" ALT before leaving and attach VOLT/OHM meter to test it's output.
upon typing that out that sounds like a BAD idea. this sucks. i don't want to spend $100 on a re-built |

Startmart will rebuild it cheap and warrenty it.
Take the alt off and to Napa/Schmucks and they'll test it for free. |
