This should make for an interesting swap; a '68 327 short block with new heads (not sure what kind yet) and TBI induction (for now)! Within the next 2 weeks I will have this combo in my RS! I can't wait to get her back on the road! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Sweet!
327 is strong... If you factor tranny loss then B's 327 in his formy was actually the strongest thirdgen on the dyno last year in terms of HP. That should be a fun project. Would be nice to have you at a gathering. You have been around longer than most of us but most of us have never met you. Keep us posted.

Yeah, except for the SIR gathering a few years ago and the Tacoma mini-gathering when Dewey came up to see his girl at PLU, I haven't made it to any gatherings. I met a couple more of you at the PNWCC show a few years back as well. I will make it to something this year for sure (if the wife lets me )!
I am keeping the TBI for now 'cause its what I got, but I sooooo miss my old '85 Z with TPI and I think thats how I'm gonna go. I think the 327 has mass potential. With bores equal to a 350 and a shorter stroke capable of higher faster revs, it should be fun to see what it will do. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

The 327 is a great motor with quite a bit of potential. and like John said the TBI is not as bad as you think, once you get past the heads and cam of crappyness that comes with them. |

I am soooo glad you didn't buy my car Joe! Your T/A was about 1000x nicer! I should never have sold it at all actually. For half what I paid for the RS, I could have gotten new wheels and paint which is all the Z really needed. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Whats up Roger?!
My plans for the RS seem to be changing on a daily basis now, so I'm not gonna post about any more mods until I have them in the car! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Hey John. How've you been? Good to hear you've got an engine going in the RS. I remember your 85 Z. My friend alex was looking at that for a bit after he wrecked his 85 TA. |

Yup, I remember that day well. He made the mistake of taking it to a mechanic first! Hell, I told him everything that was wrong with it! Plus, you gotta admit Ian, that car was damn fast for a TPI305! And after I rigged up the manual fan switch, it didn't overheat anymore! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
