He was found a day and half or so after the stroke hit... Massive left lobe damage and right lobe embolisms.

I was the only relative he had left to make the call to pull the pin.

He died at 53. He was a wrench, but took no joy in it. Smoked like a train. (Pot as well) Skinny as a rail (Unlike me.)

Our oldest brother had a stroke almost as bad 4 years ago. He's still alive, if you could call it that.

There appears to be a genetic factor called hypercoagulation, a little known blood factor, the opposite of hemophilia. I'm supposed to get tested this week.

Cliff Notes:

Stop phucking smoking... anything.

Get your blood checked for hypercoagulation if you have a history of stroke in your family.

That is all.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I lost my son in September. It gets better with time. But you never forget them, they are always with you somehow.

Sorry to hear that.

Glad that you are getting the proper testing done if it is a genetic thing.

Thanks for the sentiments, guys. Now, get yourselves checked out for high blood pressure. Please.

I've never been checked but I've got low blood pressure in my family and I have problems getting up too fast from laying down or working under the car.

Know off-hand some bad outcomes to that?

I'm already on quinipril for high pressure. Got my pressure took today and I'm doing pretty good now actually. But thanks for the concern for our health.

"It is pretty easy for the doctor to diagnose the problem just from the symptoms and by getting an idea of what the person is like and with the help of blood pressure measurements. However, it is also necessary to rule out some few other common conditions that can produce the same symptoms. These conditions--low blood sugar, slow pulse rate, low metabolism--are the most common of those that may mimic low blood pressure. It is also fairly common for one or more of them to coexist with it."
