OK, I am a moron, but this is what I'm doing now. My buddy who was going to sell me the 327 just happens to have a 350 stroker kit which includes a four bolt block, forged Callies 400ci crank, Power House pistons and various other stuff. It has standard 350 pistons so the displacement will be 377ci when built! I'm getting that and buying his '80 Z28 with a built 350 to drive 'til the kit gets installed into the RS! That will become my wife's car when the RS is finished (we are keeping our Eagle Summit so that one of our cars gets more that 5mpg!!!) I know this sounds like a 'Mark' type post, but I am actually going to do this! I am soooo stoked!!! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

I didn't change my mind. I just found out that he has the stroker kit tonight. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse. My finance officer (AKA the Wife) approved it and everything!
Sorry Mark, I couldn't resist! BTW, I gave my friend the remaining TBI components that I bought from you and my old intake manifold as part of the deal. Thanks!
Hey James! Glad to see you finally made it over here! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Um, you can't use standard 350 pistons or they will fly up and hit the cyl head.
FWIW. You have to get pistons designed for your bore and stroke and other factors. |

By 'standard 350' I meant 4" diameter. The rods are standard SBC 350 (5.7 inches) but the piston itself is shorter. The pistons are part of the Powerhouse stroker kit so I'm sure they will be the correct height at TDC and not hit the heads. The only reason I made that distinction at all is so that people wouldn't think it was gonna be a 383 (for which the 350 block must be bored .030 over), which is a much more common stroker kit. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Hmm yeah only a 4.000 bore stroker kit is odd. Hope your cyl walls don't need to be bored over! |

Its a brand new block, so it will just need to be honed (crosses fingers).
Because the build is gonna take some time, I'm really more stoked about the '80 Z that I'm getting. Its supposedly super quick and pulls hard in the top end. I haven't even ridden in it yet so who knows? Its got a crate 350 (carb? intake manifold?), TH350, 3" duals (although it still has the cast iron manifolds for some god forsaken reason!), and a 3.42 posi. It will be fun to thrash until the RS is done. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
