Hey guys, been away for a while, I'm stuck being a poor college student at Evergreen State....but the camaro is still going fine for a 305.

Thing is, I am closer to dropping in an LT4 hot cammed 350, putting out somewhere close to 340 hp. Oh, and I have found out that my rear end, complete with new drums and all, is a 3.45 ratio open diff.(yay, more spin no grip)

Anyways, with a transgo kit and a nice tranny cooler, do you think the 700r4 would hold up? I'm not going to beat the living crap out of it, but once and a while I will be using the 340 hp to kick some ass. Any .02 cents is always appreciated guys. Thank you in advance!

Very Happy

Considering the number of them, that let go with stock L98's.... I don't know how long lived it will be.

Mr. Popo lives! You dork! You missed the dyno and everything. The other newbies said that means you have to wear the tutu at Cows. I'll let you guys sort it out.

Lmao. I am glad my tranny got as much attention as my gf and her nine friends.

However, if I bring ten hot OSU girls to cows, xopher wears the tutu. ; )
(you will like them, they all graduated with me back on Maui at BHS high)
I will just have to get ready to invest in a newer tranny. I thank you all for your large amount of attention. lol.

Who the hell is pimp master t?

I'll help with the trans too!

I had a 700R4 give from a 4.3L, a 305, a mild built 350.....

I thought you had a probuilt? Which would hold whatever you need.

I thought I had a pro built, but after finding more and more receipts, I am thinking it is more of a semi pro built. Good products, but not EVERYTHING to make it 350 hp proof.

I love the lies of previous owners.

Ten girls to get dewey in a tutu AND help me change my tranny. Tempting.
I'll just have to borrow the grand voyager on the car lot to transport all that ass. I mean, all my associates.

Very Happy I really love this crew.

One more thing, I have a buddy swapping his 92 rs 305 to a 350 right alongside me, but he has been given a t5 to swap in as well.

How much money is he going to spend to make that sucker hold 400hp?
Is it worth me finding a t5 to build?

Thanks again guys

Don't go T5. There is a reason they didn't put them behind 350s. You CAN get it to hold, but it's spendy. I think the Gforce kit for a world class T5 is like $8-900.

Go T56 or TKO if you do the swap.

You're looking at $2000 + for a 5 speed either way to hold your power since you're converting.

Now you can get a Pro Built (as in the company Pro Built) for like $1500 700R4 that will hold like 500+ HP. You're looking at $350 for a good Continental/Coan converter. So again... $2000. The 700r4 is much less work, but no thrill of shifting.

Get the motor, and see how long the 700 goes. If you don't abuse it (Neutral drops) then it could go for a while, who knows.

T5's suck.

If you want to go manual, look for a T56, from a 94-97 F-body.

If you want to stay automatic, you might just see what happens, and just make sure you have money around, for a ProBuilt 700R4, if you current one fails.

(I will drive to to OSU with you, and help transport associates, if need be. Wink -- I am not joking.)

Sence heat is the biggest problem with an automatic transmission your extra cooler might be enough to keep it held up under gentile driving conditions. but sence you have a pulse you might not be gentile enough so go with a manual trans like the lama and paul are saying.

plus I can help pick up any one at osu that you want to bring to cows
