As promised, some pics of the ride.

Last summer with 17X8" KMC Venom wheels (marketed for trucks!)

Interior done at Russell's Upholstery here in Bremerton

I also sport a Dakota Digital instrument panel (I'll post later). Also 4 auxiliary lights in the grille (2 fog, 2 driving), those were a tight fit.

Now I'm waiting for a new motor since the bottom end is failing on this one, I'd like to go V8, but time and money won't allow the necessary fabrications.

Nice looking car Al. Real sharp. The interior looks to be in excellent shape as well.

Good luck with the new engine. You can always put a turbo on it Wink

Puuurrdy...

How much was the interior and when did you have it done? That looks real good and I need mine refurbished. It's trashed. Still have contact info on the place?

Actually thought about spinners once for the wheels, they were more pricey for the 17" than for the larger wheel diameters.

I've had these wheels for 3 years and had no problem with a rub until I put on this set of tires. Now that I have a small hole worn in the back of the right fender well, every set will rub on the full lock right turn, My snow tires do and they're not as wide, but they are a little taller.

i could never have blinging low pro tires like that. when i park i ocasionaly scrape my tires on the sidewalk. i try to limit this but it sometimes happens. if i had wheels like that i would scrape metal on the sidewalk. damn do they ever look cool though Smile

Man, that's a sexy beast.

If I wasn't such an adrenaline junkie and liked the act of driving, I'd get mine painted!

You should bring that work of art down for the gathering this weekend.

Wish I could bring it down, but the motor needs replacing before ANY road trip (bottom end is shot and replacement on the way). No beast this one since only V6 and so will the replacement be (keeps me honest Smile )

I like my 3.1 also. Strong little motor while it lasted. Just got the quote for worst case scenario for parts and labor. Shocked Way more than I want to pay out, but they ordered everything just in case, so price can only go down if it changes. Probobly next week to start replacement. New motor should be stronger than the old one ever was, all I need to do next is have the prom reprogrammed to get rid of the top speed (106mph) cut off.

you can't swap the engine yourself?

i am sure the crew could provide some help. or did you just get a crate and are ahving a shop build it from your old motor? if you have a complete replacement 3.1 it should be a two day swap at the worst.

No tools and no place to work and no time. 2 hours commute each way (ferry boat wait and ride) eats into the day and this is my daily driver although I have another vehicle available. It is a long block replacement, so lots of transferring over parts/components.

Do I smell a mini gathering? Smile When do you plan to have the engine replaced? If need be we could use my house. Plenty of room around here. And if scheduled far enough off we could probably get quite a few poeple over here?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I think I need help finding a decent priced 3.1 crate motor over there. I am driveable for a while yet, only makes noise when I push on the clutch. I'll have to cancel from the garage/shop where they are supposed to do the work. I'd like this to happen as soon as possible. If this can happen, thanks in advance.

what exactly is failing, and why is it only when you push in the clutch?

By no means am I a mechanic, but what I was informed of where I get most of my work done was the lower end. Noise is coming from the crank case every time the cluch is depressed. Sounds like a lifter, but from the bottom of the motor, and only after the motor is warm (180-200 deg). Has 198k miles on it, timing chain replaced first time at 194k.
