http://www.flameball.com

Was browsing about shift knobs (I know, a little premature, but I can look before I have the trans.)

Found this site. Wicked stuff.

I think I might go with this one actually. Lights up

They have a blue one too:

Which would match my interior and dash lights, but doesn't match the steering wheel in the day (Red Z28 Button).

Other neat stuff:

It says "fits all transmissions" does that mean it just uses a fat rubber washer to hold tension on the stick and not actually thread on there?

FAQ:
Q:Will the shifter fit my specific vehicle?
A:Yes, we guarantee that our shifters will fit your vehicle, as long as it is a standard transmission. Just provide us with the specifics of your vehicle (make, model, year, etc.) or the specifics of your existing shifter and we will match it!

Most of them have a HUGE threaded area, and then inserts to fit diffrent threads.

I'm not a flame fan, I like mine its simple, clean, and draws your attention in, without being crazy or out of place.

The picture at in the day of the flame red one was very dark. Almost unnoticable.

I wouldn't mind a bright shiney Silver one with etched red bowtie.

MBA went out of business. Thunder Racing has what's left, but no pictures.

Wonder if you could polish the satin one's they sell.

For feel, I like Mike's shifter from grant better. Girlfriend's Escort is like that too. Very comfortable. Your shift ball seems to big to really be comfortable shifting.

Dew, how big is yours?

2 1/8" seems real big for those ones. Plus I was never a fan of the ball type shifters, more so of the formed ones that taper up.

Like this,

or this,

I would have to go measure, here is what mine looks like.

Mike has one of the tapered ones.

Since I have driven both cars, I can say, that both are comfortable to shift with. Mikes in nice, in that it isn't aluminium, so it doesn't burn you in the summer, and freeze in the winter (aluminium SUCKS on 100* days in the sun).

Wow, that's a level of clean my firebird NEVER sees being a DD... Laughing

The only other "ball shifter" I've driven was my buddies 84 bird and that ball was freaking huge.

Everything else has had a formed shifter than fit the palm better. Shrug

I have one of the MBA engraved balls from Thunderracing with out the tail. Was either the 2" or 2.25" don't recall. I find it pretty comfortable, haven't had much of a too hot to touch problem in the summer (even with it beeing black) but that thing gets so cold durring the winter sometimes that it hurts to touch...
