Kelly,
Chevy salute = that little puff of blue smoke on start up.
Dewey,
I knew that I couldn't put up with the cat's being broken from a performance and sanity standpoint (marbles in a tin can = sounds terrible). So I went with the cheapest short term solution and decided to gut the cats. Went up to the SSS and B helped me with the exhaust. We didn't even touch then engine. Car had been great on the ride up - even got better mileage after me and Paully did some tuning Thursday night. Anyway, started the car up and it started backfiring and stuttering. Took valve cover off and the rocker for #1 E was sitting there. Poly lock still had the rest of the stud in it - just snapped right off. So I don't know if it had been getting loose or if it just went. I am impressed with AFR's flow numbers but that is about it. Brandon found several threads where people talk about the same thing happening. Looks like AFR uses way cheap studs on their way expensive heads . I am going to buy some ARP studs and get it going again - maybe this week.

i have a full set of ARP studs in the 'Warehouse' if you need something, i know money is tight for you right now, and i won't be using them for a couple more months, so you are welcome to them, so long as you buy me a set eventualy. |

I don't even want to type that much, so I'll just list what is good about the car right now.
-radiator cap is in good shape.
-steering wheel is still attached
-u joints are in fine shape
-2 tires have fair tread left on them
-dome light works
That pretty much sums up my ride.
Got to get this beotch ready for the cows gathering. |

Haven't driven the Z for what seems like forever so I've forgotten about all of those minor problems. It's currently stripped down awaiting body work and paint.
Schultzy, sucks about the stud but really it could have been worse like the head of a valve or something.

Yeah it could have been a lot worse. The rev kit holds the lifters in real nice and the valve covers aren't dented (a little scratched on the inside ). John is going to give me a ride up Thursday after work. I will just replace the one stud and get her home then do the others and the intake gasket. I am glad that the miniram is easier to work on but last may i didn't think i would be doing it this often - lol.
My list is much longer but it's depressing to see.
