Has anyone here ever rebuilt a 4L60E trans?

Well got the rear done in the astro and it came out pretty well. Got lucky and only took two trys at getting the contact pattern right, and the Zexel works great................but now that I have the rear fixed I can hear the trans noise. Wife took it in and was told it was the planetary gears going bad. So, my delema is to pay $2000 to have it fixed, or buy a trans from work for $1290 plus $149 for an extended warranty. Or..........possibly fix it myself.

So, am wondering it anyone here has done one of the computer controlled trans and could let me know what problems I'm faced with???
