It happened this past Sat. morning, glad it didn't happen on the way to the dyno, the tie-rod snapped on a corner. Did a 180 to the curb at 45mph. Sad
Now it's time for a rear quater panel fix and a new front suspension.
The back tie-rods are bent, possibly the axel is bent too, but until it's 'dialed' i won't know for sure.

I'll post this over in the "wanted" section as well, but I'm looking for a front and rear rim for an '89 iroc (88-89 years are the same), heck, i'd buy a 4 set...

wish i could've made it up there, hopefully there will have another gathering this summer...

-Right Rear Susp Tie Rod Brace

find out what they are talking about, maybe they mean the trackbar/panhard rod, or LCA's

but we don't have rear tierods. unless you happen to have 4 wheel steering on your IROC Wink

they are talking about the 2 pieces that hold the axel to the wheel...

alredy i dont trust the place you took your car to if they cant mane suspension parts right. if you have a bent axle it might be a good time to upgrade your gears and to a posi if you have not done that yet.

plus you could get some new lcas and pan hard as well.

true on the suspicion, the only reason the guy put the "tie-rod" for the rear on the estimate was because I told him to take a close look at the axel. my guess is that it's only a bent rim. I'll check it out on the lift.
right now, the car's down waiting on parts, so i haven't had a chance to look at the back...

Just looked at the schematic of a rear suspension, the "tie rod" the shop is talking about is actually the axle tie-rod (aka panhard par) and axle tie rod bracket.
Don't see how these could've bent, but, I'll take a look.

bending the panhard is easy, did you happen to smack the ass end sideways into a curb.

yep, it was a sideways hit, the back hit just a split second before the front.
