Picked up most of my brake upgrade parts today. Going LS1 brakes all 4 corners. Rears I got the backing plates, ebrakes, powerstop rotors, hoses, calipers and brackets. Power stop extreme pads if I want to use them.

Fronts look like stock type rotors, calipers and brackets, hoses and powerstop pads again.

Just ordered the brackets from BigBrake. I think I can get one of our brake lathes to work to turn the rotors into hubs. Looks like i'm on my way!

While waiting for Steven Solders to show up with the parts at a PIR park n ride.. 3 bikers pull in behind me.. Woman gets off her bike and starts screaming at a guy and shoving him around. Not sure what he did, but she was pissed. Didn't look like anybody was going to kill anyone, so I guess it was just entertainment. Dude's in deep shizzle though! She was still steaming and pacing when I left.

Probably drove stupid and nearly killed them. Or she peed her pants because he wouldn't stop.

Got some cleanup work before I'll take pics. Pics dude posted for the sale ad were from before he put them on his own 3d gen. A bit dirty now.

Been studying and ordering the miscelaneous stuff I'll need. Proportioning valve and springs that kind of thing. Looks like these rear rotors will fit over my drum axles. Had forgotten there were issues with that on some swaps. Frankly.. I don't even remember if these were drum axles or disc. I swapped to 28 spline axles when I did the Zexel install.

Bought a harbor freight blast cabinet and been cleaning up the parts. Tonight I disassembled, powder primed and powder coated 3 of the calipers. I didn't have enough silicone plugs to do all 4.

They did come out nice though. Smile

And as it says on the bottle. "Knockout Red" Sitting right next to my Super Mirror Red that I use on the jeep accessories.




And while these look pretty glossy, they just came out of the oven seconds before the pic and so the powder is still molten. The color should be "low gloss black" or chassis black.

Nope, still not red. My wife has informed me it is carnelian. Don't worry, I don't know what that is either, but it does sound luxurious.

Now you need to go get some Louis Vuitton brake lines to match.

I once had an old lady customer that drove her car with the front wheel seized until she ground the bottom of the wheel off..... Someone actually had to flag her down off the street to get her to stop.

Anyway, today I got the rotors off the car and cut the rotor surface off. Then took them into work to use the brake lathe. By turning the tooling upside down I was able to make the drum tool cut the outside of the hub instead of the inside of a drum. So got my hubs all set now.

Oh my gosh, that is hilarious.

I once watched an old lady in a huge '80's sedan pull into a handicap parking spot and slowly creep forward until she ran into the sign post, then continue to slowly run over the post bending it down about 45 degrees, and then threw it in park and left the car on the sign. Didn't seem to concern her one bit.

Okay, I was just telling my wife your old lady story and she laughed and said she drove on the freeway 45 miles on a flat tire.

I'm like, WHAT???? Shocked

She keeps laughing about it saying people were trying to flag her down the whole way and she ignored them.

I'm like, WHAAAAAAAT????? WHEN WAS THIS?!?

Now she stopped talking.

Par for the course though. Just the other day I came home and her front license plate was mangled. I bent the plate back and tore off the broken frame and went inside without asking because I know I'm never going to get a straight answer.

Some things it's best not to know.

Got quite a bit done on the drivers side today.

Here's a pic of what little bit my old pads were still touching the rotors.




Starting to saw the old bits off the knuckle. Should have sawed a bit more off the steering stop though.



Knuckle cut down, dust shield cut down, bracket mounted and the whole thing put back on the car.



Turned down hub with new bearings installed, new longer studs, and then installed on knuckle.



Rotor and caliper bracket on. This is where I stopped. Need to disassemble again and clearance the head of the lower bracket bolt. It's hitting a bit of the old steering stop. I just didn't feel like going backwards at this point today!

Got the knuckle ground down and the brackets all bolted together. Went to install the pads and caliper, but found one of the pads is worn just slightly beveled in the long direction. I was allready hesitant to re-use them, but since they were aftermarket and looked in good shape I was going to try. Now I'm not so thrilled with that idea. Time for a new set of performance pads.
