Car is now on the ground once again and motor has been fired up. After a long hiatus it was great to hear it come to life. I am just about done grinding out the forward portion of the cage so I can load the car up on the trailer and haul it to work and weld in the front portion to complete my 8-10 conversion. After that I can get back to putting carpet and interior back in and mounting in all the dash and gauges again. What a mess lol

Thank you!

Well got the grinding done. Finally sat down and wrote a list of what all is left. It is now only a page and a half no longer 5 pages lol it's getting there. This week I think I will pull the nitrous solenoids off and check them out. Probably rebuild them just to be safe and then wire them in.

Gotta pull the rear end apart and inspect the axles and reseal the third member also. Noticed the rear brake lines were not the best routing (becoming much more picky about things) so I will bend up a couple and put those on as well. Darn driveshaft got a bunch of surface rust so it is time to pull it and give it a good scrub and a coat of paint.

Tonight I made a plate and installed it to lock the ignition advances out. this should stabilize the idle and dial in the setup a little better.

Hoping to get some time tomorrow and Wednesday to pull the solenoids off and apart to inspect them before returning them to service. Also to try to finish wiring in the kit again.

Trying to get the car out to the shop this weekend. Course I had to rebuild the latch on the passenger door of my duramax before towing anything though since it decided to randomly break in the driveway and set the alarm off at 3 in the morning which started an impromptu run around the property with my trusty 870 wing master since I thought someone was breaking into the truck.

Well the car acually drove out of the garage and into the trailer! After some playing to get the timing set. It idled nicely at 1-1100 lol

I just got home from the first round of welding. Got the halo bar tacked in place and got the drivers side front bar fitted. Still have some more grinding and notching but it is going. I am installing it a little bit differently from the others I have seen but I know that as long as your body is encapsulated by the cage Nhra leaves a lot of grey area for you to do what you need to.

Halo bar had to be on a slight incline otherwise the t-top latches would never function again. Also bringing the front a pillar bars down against the front of the dash not in the middle of the dash like others. Seat mounting is going to also have to be redone as well since the halo bar comes right by the tall kirkey seats.

I will try to get some pics up by the end of the weekend, hoping to have it most if not totally done with the cage portion by the end of the weekend.

On a side note, the brakes are definitely a issue right now. Going to start with bleeding the 7 year old brake fluid out and then possibly adding an aux vacuum can since the crazy amounts of camshaft duration don't play well with vacuum.

My 2012 F150 Ecoboost has an electric vacuum pump (sits behind driver side headlights) that is very easy to remove. Just throwing it out there as an idea....

That is definitely a thought I was contemplating. Right now I need to Make sure I don't have a stuck caliper piston or something also though since the brakes hadn't been used in like 5 years or so.
I now have the main halo bar and a pillar bars welded in and am working on getting the kirkey seat mounted back in properly and then will be onto the rocker bar and side bars. I contemplated the rocker bar since technically my car doesn't have to have it but I am already adding so much weight and junk to it I figure why not. Maybe tech will be that much easier to get along with if they see me going through extra precautions.

Well the car is loaded in the trailer and is awaiting its date with the chassis inspector from nhra on Saturday. Got the cage installed painted and the window net installed. Along with the seat. Once I get back from the inspection then I can put the carpet back in and install the gauges and finally clean up this mess of wires and whatnot. Oh yea and install the dash pad also

Spoke with the inspector and apparently the f bodies have to have a sill bar. I put them in both sides figured might as well make it stronger.

looking good. I would really think about adding gussets to where the a-pillar down tube connected to the halo. I looks like you got them where it attaches to the main hoop, that a-pillar attachment location is critical, I would beef that up.

I'll have to take some better pics but I have them on both sides of the down tubes to the halo bar figured if nothing else the tech guy would say well you defiantly installed some gussets lol

It's all good I appreciate the feedback the time I didn't have others look I would surely forget something lol

I'm really hoping the inspector is cool. Some of those guys can be rough. All bars have to sonic check and placement is critical to pass

Yes I suppose so.

All that's left on the welding portion now is just to get the chute mount installed. Going to go with a Ed quay chute mount after talking with the them about it,

New engine is still 383 ci but with 13-5 comp probe forgings, 4340 h beams, 4340 crank, .750in .720ex 269 290 at .050 solid roller, 227cc profiler heads ported by speier racing heads 2.08in 1.60ex, Isky rollers, probe 1.6 shaft rockers. And a ton of other goodies. It should make some serious power.
Planning on turning the nitrous up a lot farther. Thinking I will send the kit off to induction solutions to have them blueprint it once I get everything else dialed in.

I'm hoping I can keep the weight close since I added the cage but went to a bmr k member and pa racing control arms.

Good thing my sons school is only a mile away or so. It is still liscenced and I fully intend on picking him up from school in it which I'm sure will send all the other parents into fits lol
