Nope, opposite directions. I'm going to have to do something about it. No contact on the short starts I've done so far, but it will probably hit with more revs.

Can you cheat and ditch the d-side idler all together? If it will clear the TB going straight from the alt to the tensioner it would solve all your issues.

Might be a possibility. Gets a bit more clearance than this with the tensioner pulled but I don't have three arms to also take a picture. Belt wrap on the alternator isn't great like this.

Just had another thought, maybe I could use a timing belt idler from a Subaru? I just threw away a set of perfectly good ones because I never keep used timing components. Rolling Eyes
Thank Moog's Mini for that idea I guess. Razz

No go on the smaller right hand pulley, I tried a Subaru timing belt idler and the belt interferes with the left alternator mounting bolt. I swapped the 3.5" tensioner pulley for a 3" one afterwards, didn't make much difference at all. Next plan: rotate the A/C mounting bracket to the left and build some new support brackets.

Expensive option:
Buy one of these and bolt it all together. I bought one for the Camaro already and it is a high quality piece. Ends up being about $320 after all the bits and pieces you need to install it.

There's other options, but not as OEM looking for around $270ish all said and done:

So a 3" pulley on both the idler and the tensioner didn't help at all? Seems like that combo would move it upwards 1/4".

Idler was already a 3". Swapping the tensioner to a 3" only gave me the quarter inch there, so less at the point of interference due to trigonometry. Found an open box deal on the Holley brackets so I might just order those. Doing it proper-like instead of this rigged contraption might be the best long-term plan.

EDIT: Tired of screwing with it, bought the Holley junk as open box on Amazon for $250.

Ahh I see, that makes more sense. I forgot the idler was already 3".

When it doubt, throw money at the problem. Laughing

As I grow older I find I have more money than time to screw with junkyard parts. Laughing What's another $250? I keep thinking this has got to be the last expensive part, yet somehow I keep proving myself wrong. Rolling Eyes It'll be worth it in the end.

It's not so bad. You save time not having to clean used parts, and time is money, so really, if you do the math right, you are ahead in the long run.

Besides, team grown up gets better beer.

Oh, you'll do it too, only it will be something like a fancy compost toilet or something like that.

Too hot for April, guys.

My A/C bracket came in today. I love Amazon Prime. Whaddya know, money does solve all my problems! Laughing This is the same bracket setup I am putting on the Camaro to add A/C. I put it all together to measure for a new belt when I noticed something... My dang junkyard power steering pump had puked all of it's fluid right onto the ground. So mad I can't see straight

Detour to the parts store to pick up a new belt and power steering pump, and everything eventually went back together properly. This new A/C solution is much better than the previous one; the belt routing is much better, also the A/C line placement vs. drier and condenser is nicer. My A/C lines came from a '91 Suburban with the A/C compressor in a similar location, so I won't have to get new lines made.

I also picked up a mint condition rear sport bumper for $40 to replace my beat up original step bumper.
