Whoever decided to put a thermostat on the bottom (water out) side of the radiator, but that hose from the rad has to go UP to get to the t-stat housing..... needs a beating.

Yota : 3.0L V6

Not sure why everyone is going to putting the thermostat in the lower hose now. It definitely makes it a pita to fill a system. I think on that v/6 yota I usually pour water in the upper hose housing and then install that when its full.

I think chevy trucks actually have instructions to remove the upper radiator hose and fill the block from there!

Not German enough to have a truly terrible cooling system design. Razz

I have cheated on Yota stats the past and cut the jiggle valve out completely to give it a quick bleed hole.

After owning several Ford FE's I've also started filling through the upper radiator hose with the heater hose cracked open, or even just filling through the heater hose directly. Too many annoying surge tanks and heater valves and other nonsense.

But really, inquiring minds want to know: did you voluntarily buy a truck with a VZ in it or is this just something rolling through the shop?

Drummer buddy friend of mine is trying to sell is '94 SR5. Valve covers were leaking, Radiator was leaking, Water pump was leaking. C'mon Toyota, it's 1994 and you have vacuum lines like a 1980 Oldsmobile.

Yeah, Yota truck ECMs were shockingly rudimentary well after their car engines and pretty much every other manufacturer had moved on.

In addition to using vacuum to trigger things that should be ECM controlled like the EVAP, air injection, EGR, ect. they had no idle air control valve (just a thermostatic bypass) which led to them running vacuum lines all over for switched idle steppers.

They also had flappy door garbage way after everyone else too.

Hate flap doors!!!!

That's part of why I don't have turbo in my life. I'm not using Mazda's air flow meter.

And pulling the upper rad hose off the radiator and filling did the trick.

Flappy things drive me nuts. Only vehicle I could never make run was a 500k mile volvo with a flappy thing. Would only run if you held it open a bit by hand. Replaced several things but I have a feeling that alot of things were right at the limits of being bad and all added up against me.

So what's your fix for the turbo? I know you wanna. Smile

The beauty part about the 3-X is that it's basically Wenkel-ready right out of the box, there's no more need to screw around with adding daughter boards or whatever, you just add a second VS signal and convert your temp sensors to GM units and go.

Hmm, that's not bad! I'm used to seeing the Holley stuff in the 1200+ range.

I'd buy an MS3X over a C950 for the same price any day! The 3X is a pretty amazing piece of hardware. I'm sorely tempted to use it on something, but both of my LS swaps are perfectly happy with GM PCMs.
