Just ordered, will know final total with shipping tomorrow. $1125 for the set plus set of lug nuts ($40) plus shipping (~$120)
They are 17" X 9.5" with 5.25" backspacing, made for 3rd gen. Tires I'll get locally in 275/40/17 on all four.
Not my car of course, but a good idea how they'll look on my red 89.

Time for tires and I want to go wider which the current wheels won't support. IRS was good to me this year.... |

According to UPS, they're supposed to be here on Monday. We'll just have to see if UPS delivers on holidays. I suppose I'll have to go down this weekend and order the rubber for them... |

I went to Discount Tire and ordered the tires for the new wheels Continental Extreme Contact DWS in 175/40/17. After hazard warranty, mount/balance, all the added fees and old tire disposal from the current wheels, I'm just over $900 out the door. Then I find out that I get an in store rebate for $75, and for using my account with the store, an additional $75 rebate.
I can add to that by selling the current wheels, I've already got interest from a crewbie |

Nice wheels! Although I think you're going to wish you'd done at least 5.5" backspacing. |

Mounted today. I think ride height will stay where it's at, not much room to roll the fenders if I do go lower with the tire width. Next is a visit to the alignment shop.

Looking good Al! It's too bad that crossmember is so low. |

At this height, it doesn't drag of every little thing, but I may have to have a custom one made later that tucks up better. Never the less, this is about as low as I dare go with the tires, they are about even with the outer edge of the fender wells on all four corners. Sort of gives the illusion of the car being lower than it is... |

Crossmember height like that is the price to pay for having a T56 in a thirdgen. The case of the transmission itself is just really long and low and it makes it a real PitA. |

Have you considered the Hawks Thirdgen piece, or a used Skulte Design?
I have the Skulte crossmember but I think it is rather hard to find. But if you do see one you might snag it quickly. |

Not sure if any of those will work. Most cross-members are for LT transmission onto SBC. I have Paul's LS transmission, which from my reading, has a different mid-plate making it a bit longer. Then I have the length added by an adapter plate to allow it to bolt to my bell housing. |

I thought there is only one style of LS1 T56 crossmember, whether SBC or LS engine?
Used Hawks cross members come up for sale all the time. Free experiment if you buy one. Just sell it again if it doesn't work. |

You may be right there Jon. None of them have provisions to relocate the torque arm though. BMR was the only one I found with that, but apparently doesn't work for LS T56. Later I'll probably opt for an aftermarket torque arm and tunnel mounted bushing, and a simpler crossmember. |

Your Google skills are worse than mine.

My problem is I have long tube headers and had to have humps for exhaust clearance. Ended up buying the Hawks Sinister torque arm. Haven't talked about it yet in my build thread because I haven't installed it. Had it for awhile. |
