That's the going rate for an iron 5.3 core, dude. There's another one on craigslist right now for $125 that needs main bearings, and a 6.0 for $650 that has a bad lifter.

Truck motors are good cheap power now. No more of this two grand for a pullout nonsense. Laughing

It's actually had me thinking that I could pick up a beater Chev pickup for under a grand, throw $2K in parts into it and have a decent street racer. But then I remember I don't have a shop or most of my tools anymore and I say f**k it and just buy more beer.

How is not a good deal if I basically got paid to take it... lol

Scored some stuff at the junkyard and I seperated the wiring harness. So it's individual wires/sensors right now. Ls1 calipers and custom rocker badges are in the mail

Oh you got a deal, don't get me wrong. I was merely pointing out to Chris that it wasn't the jaw-dropping insanity he thought it was. Laughing

What ECM and tuning setup are you going to run?

im going to be using the LS6 cam, LS6 springs are already installed, and im not sure which pump i want to use yet, either a ported LS6 pump or a melling high pressure

i also have been junkyarding every week, been finding all the black interior stuff i need for really cheap, also found an AUJP prom in a 91 firebird sold it on ebay for 135$

im in need of some wiring tech/help im putting in a 90-92 dash into the 83 that has no vats, do i need to modify the wiring to bypass anything or can i just cut out all the vats and airbag stuff?

well turned out the cam from the 5.3 was shot, and the dude at the shop (bowtie performance) didnt line up my cam bearing right, that was a few weeks ago i took it back to him with a vette ls1 cam i got, so he can re do bearings, also i have been junkyarding like crazy and i have a full black interior minus the door panels, i deleted all the factory seatbelt holes too! ill be getting the motor back first week of november, i only have sundays off and they arent open to pick it up Sad i also scored some ls1 brake rotors for $50 for all 4, took em to work and turned em. so i just need the caliper adapter plates, then ill cut up my hubs and spindle for the brake swap. and i started the wiring sorta, unpinned all the wires from pcm plugs deleted everything i didnt need. gonna run one wire at a time and put the pcm in factory ecm location. slowly making progress!

okay been a while since an update...

Motor is totally built and ready to drop in, but i have some things i gotta do first. i just ordered UMI subframe connectors, 8pt roll bar from Art Morrison. Founders LCA's and panhard w/relocation brackets.

I did finally acquire a T56!! just need a new clutch for it
Dash is in, new steering column from a 92 installed because i didnt want to convert all the wiring, i rewired all the tail lights and most of body harness. steering wheel is installed, brake proportion valve installed. hood is on with new hood struts

i also have an entire black interior for it minus the door panels. and i also installed the the quick ratio steering box. i have been finding lots of little things i need at the junkyard too
