Anybody have advice on subframe connectors? Im looking at UMI weld in style ones that work with my big hooker Y-pipe. I do not want to get in to cutting up the floor though. Is there any type or brand I should stay away from? Just want to stiffen up the chassis to complement my new found horsepower and everyone says sfcs make a night and day difference. Thoughts?

Cutting up the floor?

Of the Sfcs I've seen and done, I've never seen or had to cut the floor.

Sfc that tie into the control arm bolt and have a forward cross brace are best.

The really cheap ones are just a straight bar and you have to notch the floor pan for the bar to go up into. Kinda nasty.

I think the old hotchkis ones are the only ones I have ever seen that had instruction that included cutting.

Yeah, I came across those while browsing and wondered why they were so cheap. Read a little and found out you have to hog out the floor. Im not cool with that. lol

Really thinking about going with these.
On a car with no GFX can you see them hanging down when installed?

Those look very much like the original Spohn design from years ago with the box tube. In which case, yes they will. I have GFX and you can just see the red of my Spohn units stick out even under the GFX if you really look closely.

Personally I will be going with a tubular design. But for reasons that probably wouldn't matter to you. My exhaust is tucked up pretty tight to the floorboard not to mention that it's a dual Y-pipe which puts the outer pipe right up next to the pich rail. So the square designs won't fit my exhaust. Also even if I did have a singe Y-pipe I wouldn't want something that would sacrifice even more ground clearance. I only have about 2" as it is.

Only really concerned with them fitting with my 3" Y pipe. I doubt they'll be the lowest hanging part on the chassis. Plus im not trying to put m car in the weeds like you. lol

Nothing wrong with red frame rails. Laughing

For example, the UMIs peeking out under Gabe's car:

Only thing I didn't like about the tubular designs is that they don't fit tight to either the pinch weld or the the floor for welding. The square tubes do. Also you'll be grinding off quite a bit of the powder coat to do the welding.

No ground effects you're going to see SFC every time period.

I don't like the tubular ones either primary as Brandon pointed out for installation purposes including welding to the floor and cross beams.

Ground clearance shouldn't be an issue with SFCS and exhaust. I had dual 3" exhaust, and did Mikes original dual 3" and the SFCS were the lowest point. Mike's redesign with dual 2.5 still cleared, and the SFCS were installed when he still had SLP headers/y-pipe. I did no change to the SFCS when building the exhaust.

In addition, the square tube design is easier to tie some weld into the outer "pinch" weld for extra rigidity.

I have round tube on my car and there are a couple pictures in my "garage" on this site. Square tube is used to tie into trans tunnel, only the long runs under the rockers are round.

Color is going to make it stand out more than round vs. square.

They dont look too bad on your car Brandon. You can see them but they look like they belong there.

Im looking at these now, they're UMI ones, Id get them quicker since summit stocks them.
Anyone know where the extra bar in the picture goes? The other brand doesnt have that bar.
