Allow me to help: forced induction on a trail rig is a poor idea. Additional complexity leads to additional breakage. Besides, what are you going to do with more power in a Jeep? Tip over at a higher speed? If you're in a trail rig and you think you need more power, what you actually need is more gear reduction. |

As reliability goes, Eaton SC's are about the top of the list, how many OEM's use them?!? |

Not quite right Aaron. In mud you do need enough power to clean the tires. Been stuck cause I couldn't pull the next gear on a hill climb. But really it mainly needs highway power. If your behind someone doing 50 you're there for the duration. Price of the supercharger kit is less than half of a ls swap in a rubi |

If I got a passing lane I do This kit takes the 6 from 135rwhp to 210. So its not a monster but that would work alot better. I really need to weigh this thing, I think its fat and getting fatter.
With the 31s I seemed to be able to pull on Luke when we went over Hood and back. With the 33's I'm always shifting down to keep up.
On the hill climb I got stuck on I was 4lo (4:1 ratio) and 2nd gear but couldn't pull 3d. So tires only spinning about 10mph.
Don't burn oil, no misfires, fuel trim is 0% now with the new injectors. Only have the precat's which are now about 2 years old. So other then being a heavy weight, I don't see whats slowing it down. Or i'm just not used to owning such a slow vehicle. Which sucks since its also my biggest gas hog! |

Ya... bet mines a bit heavier. Stock they're supposed to be over 4k for a rubi.. And I have bumpers, tank skid, winch, rock sliders and some heavy ass toyo mudders.
Anyway, what were you boosting? |

I drove my Cherokee for 10 years. The 4.0L is the only engine I've ever had that got slower as you revved it up. And the mileage was worse than my crew cab truck.
I saw my Cherokee a few weeks ago. The new owner is destroying it. |

Add about a 1000lbs to the cherokee and you get the wrangler. Same motor but heavy weight. |

You are absolutely right, however I think more gear would help out more than a SC. What gear is in it now? Did you regear when you went to the 33s?

Indeed, but its rarely the SC itself that breaks. Everything South of it is what breaks. Overdesigning hurts you when you're out in the woods. That's why the 4.0L is in that thing in the first place. It is not efficient or powerful or light or cheap, but it just keeps spitefully running no matter what.

Not uncommon for big straight truck engines. Both my 300 and my 22RE are 'upshift for more power!' |

It has 4.10 gears and a 4:1 transfer case. I was in 4lo and couldnt pull a high enough gear to throw the mud out. |

with the bigger tires, i could see you needing more gear.
Heck, in cheeko, with more power, less weight, the 3.73's really aren't even enough for the 30.5" tires I have on it now. I can't imagine 4.10's being very good for a wrangler with 33's. |

4.56 is optimal but not a big enough step to warrant doing. If I was going 35s then a 4.88 swap would be in the works. Still I can crawl over anything, it's when I need a bit more hp to grab the next gear and get the wheel speed up that its lacking.
Really only in mud do I ever notice I need more power. Crawling rocks its awesome. Heck I think it tops out about 15mph in overdrive in 4lo.. Usually the rest of the group starts leaving me behind between obstacles. |
