I read that yesterday over on Jalopnik. The guy sold his 69SS and traded in his 2011 Camaro to buy that. Makes me quite upset. |

So rich asshole owner wants a free upgrade on the dealer's dime, rich asshole dealer wants to get out dirt cheap.
Normal people care why? |

I never read a good post on exactly what the owner would settle for.
I did see that he was offered another used car. But said he felt it was not of equal value. Makes me wonder if it was lacking options, or was considerably more miles then his was?
Does sound like the dealer is trying harder to make it then some of the others that have gone public. |

The Jalopnik article is a little more detailed. The car that was wrecked was a ZL1 with ~10,000 miles on it. Single owner, fully documented. The "equal value replacement" was a two owner ZL1 with different options, 34% more miles, no documentation, and the dealer did not disclose that the car had been in an accident.
The guy is not trying to get a free upgrade in my opinion, he is asking for the dealer to make good.
As for the "rich asshole" comment, the dude is making payments on the car, yeah he has a little money, but I don't think we are talking about a 1%er here. either way, we have no knowledge of his situation.
Link to the Jalopnik article, they actually called the dealer for comment, just like real reporters!

sounded to me like he wanted that ragged out car, plus 11. Not a "new one" plus 11.
It also didnt sound like he was a rich asshole, because it quoted that guy as saying he couldnt afford another one. |

Happy ending. http://jalopnik.com/owner-of-camaro-zl1-crashed-by-dealership-is-getting-a-1501366861
It took another dealer stepping in to handle this. The Hoopers will be taking their insurance money and buying a new ZL1, another dealer was kind enough to help them get one, I assume there must be a list or something. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).
