Lots of stuff went on this weekend, but today I went jeepn.. Very Happy

Hill O'Doom - Archers Hill Climb TSF

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKCDKYQdYwQ

Yes, I need clean shorts now. That hill is steep before I climbed the wall. Been up it several times before, usually its much more slippery. This time I had lots of traction. Laughing

Later on a rocky section of Archers I did this.

Slid back into a rock i'd allready gone over. Guess its time for more armor. Ordered up a 3/8" thick steel cover.

All in all a good day however. Very Happy

Archers can be nuts. You should have had someone out there spotting you properly!

Nothing wrong with bending some shizzle every now and then. I just spent the last 10 days demolishing my poor quad hunting. Found something new and fun, avoiding all roads and trails completely. Miles and miles climbing thru rocks, over downed trees, and trying to climb every hill! I'll look at it this week and assess damages.

Rod, you aren't having fun with a quad until you're working it hard enough to have the CV axle pull out of the transmission, obliterating the splines...

...which is what I did last weekend. Replacement axle is on order.

On the hill climb or when I bent the cover Paul?

I was there with just one other jeep. When I bent the cover he was watching my front tires trying to guide me around a giant boulder. I slid back and crushed the cover.

I've got this cover coming.. so it won't be happening again! Will still need something for the front soon though. This was 15% off this weekend too.

Commenting on the video. He was kinda spotting you, but not really. I guess I've gotten used to my group of guys and best wheelin' buddy Dan. Amazing spotter. If you do what he says, you'll never hurt anything and do some amazing shite.

Rocks on the diff are going to happen. I've been meaning to get some diff covers myself. Just one more thing on the list!

I kinda got too used to climbing that hill easily too. Been up it 5 or 6 times and it was the very first black diamond trail I tried. Mike and I went up it this spring and we were amazed how the jeep just drove right up without issues. So this was a suprise and I was probably being too lax. Was definately a wake up call. Kept me up last night worrying bout what might have happened.

Got my new Ruffstuff cover on Thursday and gave it a coat of powder that night. Installed it just before closing last night but jeep didnt feel quite right backing out and the cover was warm when I got home. So today I pulled it back off and found this.

That wasn't the ring gear rubbing but the ring gear bolts. Rubicon 44 rear axles have a zexel posi and an air locker built in. To give enough space for both they use a thick ring gear with the mount moved. Kind of like the thick gears we buy to use a 2 series carrier. Anyway, that caused clearance issues. Gave it a bit of grinding and all fine now.

There's no way i'll dent this thing.
