Last July someone on TTF posted a link to someone claiming that a smallblock they were selling on craigslist made 700hp at 8K rpm. The ad had some pictures of a stock-looking orange-painted POS with an Edelbrock intake on it.
I cross-posted it here, as the kids say, "for the lulz" in the craigslist topic:
http://cascadecrew.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8948&start=298
But I also e-mailed him asking for a picture of the slip. We corresponded a bit and I fed him some BS about how I was semi-local; close enough to pick it up, but not so close that I would drive over just to see the slip. He said he would get back to me as it was "at his Dad's house in the safe."
After a few messages it petered out without any further response from him, so I assumed he saw through my crap, and being the ADD type that I am I was soon bored and forgot all about it.
Today I receive an e-mail with an .RTF file attached claiming that this is the 'dyno sheet' and asking if I'm still interested.
I'll just let this sink in awhile... |

Shaazzzaam!! So what formula are they using to get power/tq to cross at 4k? and I think you were hit by a couple of lightning bolts there! |

Why I believe it is the not oft-used correction factor of MSPaint my good man!
Perhaps the greatest irony is that despite the blatantly obvious and poor quality forgery it's still not making 700 horsepower!!! |

So... I haven't sent him anything back yet, I was too busy laughing.
That means the key question is: how exactly should I respond?
I'm down for suggestions.
The meaner the better.

If you are passing a scam along you are equally as culpable as the person who initiated it.
He's not even trying to back off it, with this claim that he "knows what it does."
Being mean to assholes on the internet is fun, but I don't think I'll f*** with him anymore. I've caused enough bad karma. |

LMFAO!
Lightning King. I guess I have had the formula for horsepower wrong all these years. He 'crosses over' far earlier than anything I have ever seen!

| It's kind of pathetic the only thing he knows how to do with MS paint is draw a straight line. Imagine the possibilities if he learns how to draw an arc! |

Give that guy a medal. But not a wrench. I'm scared what he might do with it. |

Love that smooth torque curve. I'm always nervous about Craigslist posts when people can't put two sentences together. |
