Dear Mister Aaron,

There are too many red trucks nowadays.
Please eliminate three.

P.S. I am not a crackpot.

There is also a stupid yellow Camaro to balance things out.

This truck has the illustrious "NorthWest Limited Edition" package, which near as I can tell consists entirely of that sticker. Squint

You kids can make all the fun you want about how picky I am when buying used junk trucks, but I got pretty nearly the exact options I wanted for a great price. This truck is truly a beer window and Rhinoliner away from being exactly what I wanted.
I'm thinking I might have to do something about those poorly-installed lady steps though. Sad

Well now that's just factually inaccurate on both counts.

Looks like a good truck. You could paint one yellow to balance things out. Razz

There's an easy fix for that bumper sticker. Just cut it across the center and peel off the bottom part. Laughing

But the sticker is inaccurate on both counts.

Guns are for people who are afraid that their penis isn't big enough and coffee is for people who are afraid that their brain isn't going fast enough.

As a man who has never had either of those problems I don't really see the appeal of either product. Cool

(Sort of) back on topic:

Spent today tearing the truck apart and spreading parts of it all across the garage (because of course I would do something like that!)

While I was at it I figured I would throw out this little public service announcement:

Thinking about buying some Seafoam to suck into a vacuum line to clean your intake valves? Don't.

I knew I would be pulling this one apart today, so last night I sucked 2/3 of a pint of that crap into a vacuum hose, stalled the engine and let it sit overnight. There was the usual Seafoam smokeshow this morning, but upon pulling the intake off I found all of that. Stuff doesn't do diddly squat.

1: You don't know what it looked like before.

2: It's meant to clean the hard carbon off the back of the valves and tops of the pistons.

3: I've seen it actually do that job.

Left it overnight? I feel like there is a window of time that seafoam functions best at. Is 10 hours in that window? Laughing

Come on Aaron, you need to finish that banana so you can beat me! Very Happy

Whats the story on the "head bucket"? Laughing

You weren't down this way tonight were you? We about had a head on with a drunk driver. Ran the person behind us off the road, almost hit another person and then hit and run the cop we called. Story is he was driving either a red toyota or ford.. no shizzle.

I hope you don't someday regret that you only give yourself option to yell and throw fists. I've had a stranger try to kill me at home. It does happen to people and it's a pretty convincing experience why there is no substitute for a gun in a skillful hand.

Sometimes defending yourself just means squaring up against a bully. Sometimes defending yourself means kill or be killed. The fact is there are bad people that do bad things, and there are times when decent people must take very forceful action to stop it - for their own sake or the sake of others. I like guns for what guns enable me to do, and that is to protect myself and my family no matter my strength, size, or age, stop a group of attackers, and I can do it without getting inside my enemy's reach. That's just being smart.

Even so, I'm not putting a bumper sticker about it on my vehicle. Laughing

All true. Without pulling the head I can't say for sure. I will tell you that I have tried it several times on several vehicles and never seen any improvement in the way they ran, which is why I wanted to do this test.

Next time I pull a head on something I'll run some through! Cool

When I run SeaFoam I do it twice. First time soak for about 10 minutes, then blow it out, redo it and let it soak overnight.

I do need to finish the Banana. It's languished for too long.

I need those wheels off of the new pickup for my 58 project. You keeping them or ditching them?

And probably a good thing your an anti gunner, you'd be anti technology and trying to conceal carry a musket and telling us about the benefits of smooth bore vs rifling.

I'm keeping them. I like that Alcoa look on Fords.

What's the story on the '58?

If the seafoam soaks in too much, and there is nothing but air to wash it away, you get the same.

Good gas always seemed to take care of the valves for me. As for leaking the intake? Forget it, just clean the throttle blade. Unless PVC and extended oil changes are an issue then you have to pull the damn intake.

Had a Ranger with 40,000 original miles come in with a "knock." No oil came out of the pan. The intake and crankcase was like oil/hardfoam. It was bizarre. He said "I thought the truck came with oil," as he admitted to never changing it....

I once had a ranger exactly the same way. I think it had 46k miles on it. Pull the dipstick and it read full. Took it apart and the oil was turned to pudding.

At least yours was still viscous. This thing was like forming foam. I had to cut it away to get to the mains.

I replaced a jeep 4.0 one time that was the same but worse. That one I actually took the pan loose.. pried it down an inch and the oil/pudding held the pan up!

Come on now, think of all the money they saved on oil changes. Razz

Cleaned the TB first day I had the truck. It was coked up but still working okay.

Oil changes were done religiously on this truck. I did the valve cover gasket when I had the intake off (only way you can do it on an EFI 300) and everything was shockingly clean for 209K miles.

I'm still chasing a shudder at idle and low RPM. Fixing all the vacuum and exhaust leaks and replacing the fuel filter really helped the truck out, but the shudder is still there.

Clears up with some throttle or at higher RPMs. It's not consistent like a bad balancer or something. Feels like a fuel delivery issue, but it does it out of both tanks. PO replaced all ignition parts aside from the distributor and coil. I tried blocking off the EGR (well known problem on the 300) but that wasn't it.

I'll drive it for now, and maybe fiddle with it some more later. Next item on the agenda is the whining C2 pump.

At 209k, I'd be taking the injectors down to Dr. Injector and have them flowed/cleaned.

At 90k on my Jeep with good gas, I noticed a different at less than 6% restricted from rated flow.

That was going to be my next step. There was full-on mud coming out of the fuel filter when I dropped it so there has been some bad s**t going through the injectors. Laughing
