But Mike's TPI motor could tide you over until then. _________________

Buying a used SBC to get your s*** faster for cheap = good idea.
Spending a lot of money on a "new" but outmoded engine when you can go to the junkyard and buy an engine that's not from the 50's = bad idea.
Just my two cents. |

I'll have you know my V6 was designed in the 60's, not the 50's. |

Yup. I would never buy a crate GenI. To each his own though.
Crate motor = 0 miles, 290 fwhp and $2k+
My motor = 30k miles, 340 fwhp and a hell of a lot cheaper. Plus it has fuel injection.
Junkyard 5.3/6.0 = 100k-ish, ~320-370 fwhp and $400-$1000. But then you gotta spend a bunch on swap parts and a new transmission.
Keepin' it stock = Lame, no power, free! _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I'd put an LSx in it if I had the time, room, money, etc... The Berli rules and it is my daily driver which is why I bought it. I need to sell my wagon so I can have some money for cool stuff like paint and body work! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
