I've spent the afternoon trying to bolt my new ring gear to the carrier with no luck. It gets very very close to going completely on then stops. I've tried tapping it on, evenly torquing the bolts and it just won't meet face-to-face with the carrier. Anyone else had this problem before? _________________ 2010 Cobalt LT

So I've spent a bit more time with this today. I decided after consulting the install instructions to try lapping the rear face if the ring gear. I'm about 30 minutes into it and it definitely is looking a little tapered. Probably from heat treating like the instructions say. _________________ 2010 Cobalt LT

Well after quite some time with #80 sandpaper and a piece of glass I finally have the gear mounted. Hopefully I've eliminated any chance of uneven backlash and will be able to get a nice pattern out of it. _________________ 2010 Cobalt LT
