Hopefully this isn't too much to ask, but any amount of ridicule is worth a chance at owning one of these amazing devices!

If I had the 700-R4, I think I'd go for the cool factor and, if one could be found, install the Lightning Rods, also by Hurst. Cool

They were particular to the 83/84 Hurst Olds, but I've heard they made other models for those that wanted to fit them on other cars.

I came across a picture of one installed in a 1987 T/A. Fabricating a shifter plate shouldn't be too difficult.

Hahahaha I just saw those for the first time a few days ago and thought it was the most excessive thing ever made! 3 sticks?!

It's kind of like a poor mans lenco. Pull each stick to get a different gear. They're over $700 and I dont think they work on a 700r4.

I had a Cutlass Supreme of that same year (1983), but 3.8L V6 model. At the time, I thought those were the coolest shifters, and still like them. IIRC the Hurst Olds had the 200-4R tranny fitted with the Lightning Rods. I have read though, that the shifters were made aftermarket to fit other applications, but don't know the truth behind it.

I remember watching the vid a month or 2 ago. But forgot they were working it with the od trans. In 85 they got rid of the lightning rods because they "confused" drivers.

I came across that video when looking for those pictures. I can see where some drivers might get "confused." Unless you have a manual valve body in the transmission, for everyday driving, you don't ever have to touch the two right side shifters.
