I picked up a set with the extensions from South Bay last month. The extensions add to length so that the oring to oring is the same distance apart as a stock Bosch. I tried to install them Monday and discovered they dont fit a T-Ram intake. They need to sit .120" further into the base manifold injector boss. The part of the gen 3 that wont let it go down further is the plastic housing. I sent SB the same link shown below, they said to trim off the plastic housing and said that Audi customers do this and provided a link to pictures.

Trimmed injectors - http://www.southbayfuelinjectors.com/Remanufactured-27LB_Bosch_1999_Audi_A4_2.8_30v_v6_PES_G2_SC.html

Anyone ever trimmed off the plastic body of a late model injector?

I shaved the injector bodies down tonight with a 25K die grinder without issues. It will be running tomorrow. I wonder how it will react to the larger injectors and old Ed Wright tune?

Should I clear the ECM before it starts up?

This has been an interesting saga. I can't wait to see if this solves it.

I'd definitely reset the ecm so it can get a fresh learn.

It was a tight fit but I got the injectors in and started it up. It ran like crap. It was missing badley and running pig rich. I used a this http://www.instrumart.com/products/10108/raytek-minitemp-mt6-infrared-thermometer?ctype=2&gclid=COTjgP_M9akCFQY-bAodZCvWZg
temp gun and found that the headers on the passengers side were cold while the drivers side tubes were at about 500 F.

For some reason the upper plenum sits lower on the passenger side and the injector plugs barely clear. They were not plugged all the way in. I used a pair of 12" needle nose plyers and forced them onto the injector until I heard the click. I also bumped the fuel pressure back to 43PSI.

It runs some what better but barely idles, stumbles at throttle transition and generaly runs really rich. I need to reset the minimum idle, TPS and timing again.

Ian, can you give me a hand with this? It takes to people becuase the car wont idle.
