Boo work. I should be at ninkasi but we are at the beach cabin in yachats. Very quiet new years. Ever heard of Oakshire? They are in Eugene and very tasty. They use a lot of other grains instead of 2-row so their base malts are way different. Very good.

What level is everyone at in gt5? I'm almost cresting level 12.

What cars have you guys won with? I ask having troubles getting a car for the European classic car for the beginner.

I'm having fun with a berlinetta rs coupe '99 at the moment. Got me first in a couple oddball races like French and European hot hatch in amateur races.

The berlinetta is useful. I used it for like 3 races total, and a couple in b-spec.

For the euro classic, you have three choices that will work well. You can win a old 62 Lotus Elan S1 (I had to give it a little extra HP, since the Alpina you race against is so much faster in a straight line), You can win an 61 e-type jag (won with this, with no modifications, less a fresh oil change), and at one point you win a 64 Ginetta G4.

I actually played the begining twice (2 PS3's, before the update that allowed you to moved saved games). One time I won that race in the Lotus, once in the Jag. Just keep doing stuff you haven't done yet, until you win a car that works, or watch the used car market. I haven't had to buy many cars, but a couple of times, I have needed to use the used car market to find something that fits. (I think the euro classic, and Mini-Cup come to mind)

Thanks! Does the market change constantly or does it add cars as you progress? Can't figure out how it is updated.

I think it changes periodically. I am not sure if it does it by calendar day or not. The online dealer may also have something.

I'm a little disgruntled at the moment. I bought a 1970 charger and got the full customizable 6 speed tranny. I can't change the gear ratios, can't change the final, there is no 6th gear, and the top speed is off. Am I missing an update? And for 400+ horse and 1400kg that this is slow.

Interesting. If you go into tuning on that car, does it show the racing transmission?

I've played GT5 a couple times and I'd be tempted to get it if they would reduce the steering limitations. I understand that you can't make a hair-pin corner at 150 but if I press the joystick all the way over, it should at least try lol. I didn't realize how many people here played on PS3... anyone play CoD: Black Ops?

I think if you turn off the active steering assist that it will behave better. I double checked to make sure the race tranny was selected. Still nothing.

Anyone done the top gear challenges? It took me a while to get 3rd finish on the bus race! Way harder than I would imagine.

The Elise is the only top gear challenge I really struggled with, other than the stupid AI in the bus race.

When you do the advanced top gear in the VW Thing, the trick is to hold your speed at 49mph, the car has a speed limiter at 50mph, and then will drop down to 45mph if you hit it, so keep it at 49, and pass the other Things when they hit the limiter and drop speed.

Good to know, thanks! I have yet to finish a lap in the elise. They don't seem to stop as well as I would like them to. I love the one model races though, makes it all about driving.

Sure wish you could qualify for races like the older versions. I used that as a tool to learn how good my car will do in the actual race against the cars the game chose to pit you against.

Figured out I can link my ps3 to my evo. So got it online, updated, and my username is red_treason. Is it case sensitive?
