So, driving home the other day. I come off hw22 and my truck starts clanking and loosing power. Next thing I know I have no transmission. Now, I get towed home (a block form my house) jack the truck up , take the scatter shield off find out that the transmission was only held on by 3 bolts, really wasn't in a good mood after that but than the flashlight came out and the flywheel had exploded. So long story short now i need a new transmission. and the moral of the story is don't by a truck from a crazy old guy that has had transmission work done at keizer transmission

I may be missing something here, but if the flywheel is cracked/damaged, why not just get a resurfaced one, a new clutch kit, and go with it? Did it take out the input shaft or something?

Yeah. You need a flywheel or clutch.

Did the flywheel come apart or the pressure plate or the clutch disc?

Is this a manual or auto?

What happened to that S10 shortbox you traded for? I thought it was a stick? Confused

Regardless, it sounds like you only need a flexplate. Should be able to pick one up at the JY pretty cheap. Gotta get the right balance, though. Some of those 60* motors were balanced differently than others.

Isn't the flexplate of the 2.8s known for grenading? I know two jeep guys that blew up flexplates with their 2.8 Cherokees.

2.8 in a jeep is the same GM motor. There's a couple cheap cherokees on craigs right now being parted out. One I know was a 2.8 5spd. Might be a place to get parts.

Jeep T5's are different than S-10 or F-Body t5s.

Interesting. Since they bolt to a 2.8 that end will evidently bolt up. Where's the actual change? Made for a different transfer case?

They tend to have more of a mopar input shaft. Pretty sure they use the T5 in more than just the 2.8GM motor. Cause they also use them behind the 2.5L Cry I4. And the t-cases are make specific so it probably has a different tail with 4x4 versions.

The one I saw on craigs was a 2.8 gm motor. So evidently input will work. Question on the shifter and transfer case however.
