Does anyone have an 88 chevy pickup? I have a relay right next to the blinker relay on the bottom of the relay block that is stuck on. It doesn't seem to actually do anything. But key on or off it clicks on and it's drawing 100mA which is killing the battery. I can't seem to find a diagram anywhere of what it does.

Anyone have a clue?

so next question... does your horn honk? if not that is because it was stuck on the prior owner cut a wire to make it stop. if so... genuine mystery. Shocked

Thanks guys! After I verified that the horn doesn't work I asked the owner if he's had horn problems. He said that one day he was talking on the phone in his truck and horn kept randomly honking. He drove it home like that and then cut the wire to the horn! So the wiring somewhere got messed up and while the horn didn't honk anymore, the relay was energizing. So I left the relay in the glovebox for now. Thanks a bunch!

horns are over-rated. That is why humans have middle fingers.

In my entire life I have only ever owned two vehicles that actually had working horns. And both of them were 90's Fords. Shocked

My guess would be that the horn initially grounded out in the steering wheel pad, causing it to honk randomly (common problem on old Chebbies Razz). Then when he cut the wire under the hood it grounded out, causing a short circuit.

Tony, I read that it's probably just the 5th gear retaining clip that came off. Might be worth yanking out and fixing when you get the V6 car running.
