Sounds like its trying to pull down. It has a reverser switch in it that reverses the polarity to the motor. Is that in the right direction? you should be able to open it with the key behind the lic. plate, open the hatch and see which way its moving without the hatch on it to stop it. It may not move at all, but if it does its worth noting which direction its trying to move and working from there.

These things could have power hatches? I think mine had one at one point, since it has a strange motor unhooked back there, and it never had a rear wiper.... If I plug the motor in though, it just turns on and doesn't do anything.

where is the reverser switch? im not sure if its trying to go up or down, i think its just stuck at the lowest point, right now i have the hatch open and the motor out, i cant seem to find a switch or anything, when i unplug the plug from the relay and plug it back in i can hear the switch inside the relay clicking, idk if that means anything, ive tried to get it to move and it wont budge but i know its getting power cause it will heat up

It needs a sliding mechanism to pull down on you may not have that, it costs about 300.00 for a complete replacement kit for the power unit so most just replace with a slammer hatch.

looks like that. that little black tab is the lever that the switch activates.

Go here and read up on the hatch pull down. Lon has everything you need to get it working again and seems to be the one everyone recognises to be the expert on these units. Give him a call and tell him what's going on. He should be able to diagnose the problem your having easily and supply you with everything you need to fix it.

Huh, yeah, looks like mine was replaced with a slammer unit when something broke in there, I was wondering how I was so lucky to have all new hydraulics back there.... Maybe I should just pull my motor and such, and sell it to someone that needs it for cheap.

You have to be careful slamming it. You will break the plastic motor housing. The plastic guides are probably already shot and need replacing, so you most likely won't harm them anyway.

I'd pull it apart and see what's wrong with it. Chances are it's not the reversing switch, probably broken guides not keeping the assembly in position for the switch lever to function correctly. They guides are cheap and easy to replace.

When my car did this it would pop the hatch, start rising and then as soon as it would get to the point where it let it loose it would just take it back down. I ended up having to grab it fast before it took it down and it reset itself lol

well when i took it apart the reverser switch lever broke and i dont really wanna deal with this motor anymore, and where the screws go in its cracking, probably from slammin, i think i will just find another motor, i dont wanna put the time into fixing this haha
