Think about it: Mopar 2.2L Turbo starting in 1984:
"Chrysler used a Garrett Research T-3 turbocharger, including an integral wastegate, with a maximum boost of 7.2 psi;"
Not 14. And not your 11psi. They cranked the boost without adding fuel. Good thing your motor is tired, all the boost pressure is just passing the rings and not blowing up!
What to know about your motor:
http://www.allpar.com/mopar/22t.html |
Later on that page:
Quote: | The next most common engine after the Turbo I, it added an intercooler, forged crank, and other performance touches, including a heavy duty transmission. An astounding 174 hp came from this reliable engine - not bad considering the original was only 93 hp - and that it came with 200 lb-ft of torque. The intercooler dropped the charge air temperature by up to 120° Farenheit, allowing boost to go from 7.2 psi to 12 psi. Small tubes drilled between the cylinder bores at the top deck were added to cool the engine more effectively, an important modification. |
His motor is the Turbo-II, which is factory 12psi. The Turbo-I was 7.2psi.
Regardless, there IS a problem and it needs to be fixed. It's just not due to boost pressure.
Greg, it is a Garrett T3 turbo on a Chrysler Turbo-II motor. Fix your fueling before you do anything else to that motor.

I totally missed that. Looked all over on that page too.
My mistake.
It's still not factory 14psi _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

True. And it's still not fueling right as well.

This year I put down 372hp/353ft-lbs N/A and 475hp/450ft-lbs w/N20
I hadn't made any changes N/A. I guess the butt dyno did lie on the juice in that I thought I would be up over 500hp. What it didn't lie about is that 475hp at the wheels feels GOOD!
hehe
Dyno wide-band showed me getting real lean. A bit frustrating because we dialed things in with the brand new wide band in the car. Nothing blewed up and had a good time though.

Just put an AEM in. Much easier setup than the Innovate.
My N/A numbers are down ~30hp compared to 2 years ago with the dual 3" exhaust. Still gets the job done though
