Ok, i know their not highly sot after motors, but i have one that came out of my chevelle.
and from what i was told, it came out of an 85 or 86 iroc (previous owner claimed it was an 86, i didn't think they still had carb'd 305's i thought that was where fuel injection started)
either way, i know it was one of those, saw the car day before it met the crusher for scrap metal, i didn't get much info from the car other than the I-Roc...
point of this post. i got it running today, it ran perfectly fine minus the exhaust (completely shot on the car)
about what could i ask for this that is a fair price. |

'86 IROC could have the LG4, which was carbureted. 165hp.
It could also have had the L69, carbureted. 190hp.
The L69 was incredibly rare, or possibly non-existent in the '86 though, so chances are you have an LG4. If I needed an LG4 (which I don't) I'd be comfortable paying $200 or so for it complete from carb to pan. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| You could get LG4's all way through 87. I don't know when they stopped putting L69 in. My guess is the L69 went away in 85, since you could get TPI as an option, my guess is that it replaced the LS9 as the performance engine. |

Alright, that sounds pretty decent i'll probely put it on craigslist sometime in the next week or two.
i was kinda excited about actually getting the car running, there's somthing wrong with the chevelle's ignition or wireing or somthing..
i get power to everywhere i need, but the only way i was able to get the car started was to short the starter.
so i'm still at square 1.
almost tempted to buy a whole new wiring harness and rewire the whole car.
it's the biggest mess i've ever seen. |

'86 was the last year for the L69. You could still get an LG4 through '87. It was replaced in '88 by the L03. Apparently GM wanted there to be 3 V8 engine options between '85 - '92. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
