i got told from a kid in my class that his bro's celica with just a homemade cold air intake, and muffler kit that it runs 10's in the quarter... i said it probaly runs 15's ( being nice ) he says 14's and that with the turbo kit its gonna run 10's. what do these things actually run in the 1/4? also i was looking at a v6 5spd 99 camaro and couldnt get ahold of the owner so i called the place that its parked at and he though it a 06 or 07. put him in his place and he was like oh..um..

sorry not much happenin.

Laughing If you two raced he wouldn't have a chance without the turbo kit. The stock 5S-FE motor, if it's a GT is 135hp or so. Just a turbo kit on the stock motor might get him up to low 200s hp without blowing things up if he's lucky. Then it's a high 14 second car with great driving.

I love BS'ers. Reminds me of the guy who told me his "Honda would waste my Camaro, dude, cause he's running 50lbs of boost and a 350 shot of NAWSS in his Civic. And don't even get him started on the 1500hp naturally aspirated '69 Z28 he has in his mom's garage. But he can't show them to me cause he got his license taken away for street racing for 50k cash in California." Word for word.

No matter where you go you will always find BS.......... pulled into the local hangout one night....... Guy pulls up in a SVT contour haha says he has never lost a race and would race anyone in town....... He parked right behind Z and was talking this shizzle. I opened the door got out and told him let go out to the local area for a run....... He starts talking about how big and bad he is but nothing about lining up. I start the car and give him a rev and I guess that hurt his ears he rolled up the window and left without saying another word.

Had another guy say he wants to run me in a supposed "9 sec. CRX with full sponsership" hahaha those were his exact words. I go down to line up find him and he shows up in a primered body kit half falling off whale tale busted crx with a dohc ZC motor swapped into it. I laughed and went home.

always posers always BSers

lol i know my camaro isnt anything to brag about but i wasnt the one saying it ran 10's lol. i use to think top speed was like 250mph though but that was back when i was 6 and didnt even know a single thing or even what the camaro was called. also he must think a deck, speakers, and subs must be a performance upgrade all those do are make it slower.

my mother and i raced one of those svt contour's at a stop light with some wanna be bad azz mexican in the car revin at us and smoked him at the stop light. the durango is pretty quick off the line with 300lbs of torque and awd.

we got a kia spectra for a rental car now because we were in a car accdent a couple weeks ago with a mustang but this thing has ZERO low end torque but ones you get into the 3k rev's it start moving at sounds/acts like a turbo. he's the whole story about the accident

can a gas engine even run 50lbs of boost? isnt that only diesel?good luck on that motor running for long on a 350shot. it just makes him look more stupid to say its a 69 z28 there for track racing and not drag and that thing would be uncontrolable with 1500hp. 50k? lol

The only early 90's celica that could ever run 10's would be an alltrac turbo. they were released in the us from 88to93. my 88 came from the factory with a 200 hp 3Sgte motor, the same found in MR2 turbos of the same era. they made a enough of them each year to qualify to enter the car in WRC rallys. they are fairly rare.

the 3sgte motor is a good motor with great build capability! I have toyed with them before.

Also if a 3000 GT rolls up and has the VR4 bades on it then it may not be quite as slow as people think. The AWD Turbo from a dig does fairly decent. I have run with one back when I had a built up 305. The vr4 has greddy upgrades and the boost was turned up a bit along with intake and exhaust add ons. I got him by a car off the line (young inexperienced driver in the VR4 couldn't do a clutch dump) but he ran neck and neck after that until the end.

Not to turn this into a 3000GT VR4 thread, but my wife waxed one in my IROC at SIR. The funny part was he was the same guy that my wife and I met at the inspection area waiting to get in. Him and his buddy both ran there mouths about how slow muscle cars were, and the buddy kept bitching about how loud the 10 second cars were. He actually said " why do american cars have to make so much noise to run so slow?" I asked the owner ( early 20's) what his car ran. He said high 11's. I asked him how many times he had the car at the track, he said this was the first time. I asked how he knew what his car ran and he said " the street infront of my house is about a 1/4 mile long, I raced it there and my buddy used his stop watch to time my run".

His car was bone stock, 60K miles on it. I was trying to be nice and told him dont expect to run that at the track. His buddy started to try to get in my face ( I was a good foot taller than him) and said " doooooooooooood, do you know what this car is????Do you have any idea how fast they are????".

Anyhow, as luck would have it, I gave my wife a turn driving my car, guess who wound up in the right lane next to her? Yep, Mr Stopwatch boy. He ran a 14.8 and my wife ran a 13.44. I watched him on the return lane drive over to his buddy, pick him, then drive out the gate.
