Neighbors like you, huh?
I rolled around the block open header with the 5.3. Yikes... _________________

Neighbors friggin love me.
I finally got it running Sunday night just before dark (damned NAPA Duraspark pickup coil ) and took it for a couple laps of the 'hood. I seriously set off probably a half dozen car alarms. Decided to park it before somebody called the cops on me.
Still sounds pretty decent through the crap Pro-Flo's with no crossover. I was grinning ear to ear all the way to the exhaust shop though. |

Kid actually did a pretty decent job of sorting it out, since a lot of the angles changed with the headers.
The headers themselves are the new low point of the whole mess. They do drag with two or more people in the car. This is exacerbated by the tiny wheels up front. 195/65's on 4.5x15 AR's = stupid. TireRack has the TTO AR's, but two with tires and shipping comes to $522. |

Can't wait to see that beast at dyno. Do you have any idea what you're expecting for numbers? _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Not really sure what to expect from it, Gabe.
The FE engines are considered big blocks in Ford's engine nonclementure. However aside from the 427 and 428 engines, none of them made it very far past the 4" bore mark. In fact the 390's numbers (4.052" + .030" over x 3.784" stroke) are pretty much the same as a Chebbie 383 (4.00" + .030" x 3.75") so I'm expecting numbers along those lines.
I've also got a Holley that is not happy about the sudden change from an Edelbrock OEM replacement manifold, to an Edelbrock Performer RPM. Gotta read the plugs today, and probably up the jets and PV.
On top of this I'm running a C6 and a small-bearing 9-bolt, so drivetrain loss is also gonna be pretty high.
From the factory it was rated 300hp/427tq gross at the flywheel. |

I'm assuming you have the 2v heads, right?
It'll be interesting to see what happens. We'll see in a few days. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

That's the 2v. Originally had a 2-barrel carb hooked up to those heads in the 60's. The 4v was 58-62 cc chamber volume and different shaped combustion chambers, originally the hi-po 4-barrel heads.
We'll talk FE more on the weekend I'm sure. I'm excited to see your Furd. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Right on, dude.
I have the heads that came off of the old motor sitting on the bench. I don't recall the #'s off the top of my head, but I seem to recall that they were '68 390GT heads off a Mustang.
They're a little... well take a look...

That's typical for a Ford, bud.
Seriously though, those are pretty messed up. Might be the hi-po heads though if they actually are '68 Mustang GT heads. Basically just higher compression though, so probably not worth fixing. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Sweet dude!
for some reason I keep thinking it was a 4 door car. Even sweeter that its a 2 door HT.
Can't wait to see it! _________________

I've had a few exhausts done by ProMax. All in all I was happy with their work. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Hey Aaron, looks like I am in the market for a new exhaust for the Camaro. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay at ProMax? _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
