How do I get more traction for my tires?
I push on the breaks, and my tires always lock right up.
I did a $200 skid today!
That's a big spot, huh?
On a side note, I hope to get my hedders on soon! I sprayed stripper on them today.

Haha ok
I don't even know what I have, they were new and on the car.
They are even syphed! (those lines across the tire)
Maybe it is time for some huge burn outs so I can buy new tires! _________________ -Donald

I've noticed that syped tires don't do as well in the rain. The other thing, is maybe some practice on threshold braking in the rain, should be in your future.
Once the brakes lock up, you have to get off of them, and regain traction, sliding tires don't help you stop. |

Couple of other things to think about:
If the front struts are crapped out, the car will nosedive, and the front wheels will slide.
If the rears lock up before the fronts, look at pressure/prop valve issues.
x2 on practicing braking as well. |

Would depend on the cop and what business' parking lot. Once you see they have arrive. Drive over to them, tell them that you got in a wreck before in the rain, and your testing the limits of your car to get a better feel for it. If its a half decent cop he will likely let you go. Cops here anyway really really like being told the truth and if it appears you were taking any safety precaution, they let you go.
I was caught doing burnouts in a parking lot before. I strait up told the cop I had just added some go-go goods and was testing it. After checking my id, he told me to get out his sight and dont get caught doing stupid crap again that night. |

Don't test brakes in a parking lot. You need too much speed to get the job done. At a minimum, find an empty back road somewhere.
I would just attend an autocross event. It's cheap, it's way more fun, it's legal, and you'll get advice and help from other people with experience. |

Man, you're thinking about the down-south, Buford T., good ol' boy cops you guys got down there.
Up here we have asshole, chip-on-their-shoulder, state government is bankrupt and they desperately need ticket revenue cops. You will get away with nothing no matter how honest you are. Especially in a Trans Am.
Used to be you could go down on the tideflats where the Indians keep the old Emerald Queen boat. Alexander Ave. is a massive stretch of road down there that they blocked off at both ends when the Indians moved their casino. They took the bridge to Marine View out on the one end, and closed the road from Fife on the other.
I was down there in the IROC one Sunday morning. Had a railroad truck come down the rails (which I wasn't watching for ). He didn't call the cops, but he drove two inches from my bumper all the way back to the 509.
If no one is around, it's a great (although illegal) place to learn. |

| If that picture means that you slid into something/someone, then it is not the brakes, car, tires, or the rains fault. Slow down and leave more room between you and the car in front of you. Following too close will bite you in the ass eventually. |

We have some asshole cops as much as any other state. But what we have here is that cops can not write tickets on private property UNLESS the property owner says too So unless they have a standing order with the cops. All they can do is harass you and tell you to leave. |

I may be wrong on these two points, but as I understand it a cop can enter private property and ticket you as if it were a city street, as long as there is reasonable public access to the property (i.e. parking lot, ect.).
Also a cop can issue noise tickets, emissions tickets, or excessive display tickets on any property, even your own. |

Around here, yes. He's halfway across the country though. My friends got a reckless driving ticket for cutting across the parking spots in an empty lot instead of driving down the lanes. _________________

| My brother got a speeding ticket 10min after parking in our driveway. Thats the bad deal about driving a recognizable car. Drive some appliance like a honda and the cop would have gone right by. |

As of a few years ago, they could not issue tickets if you were doing such on private property unless owners (maybe managers too) approved. Even wrecks!!! But as mentioned, I'm in a totally different world here then your area.
Ive done burn outs in parking lots, no ticket.
Broken sound ordance in parking lot, no ticket. Got followed tell out of his jurisdiction.
Sound ordance in my own driveway. Told to keep it down.
Got in wreck in parking lot. Said he could not issue ticket, only file property damage citation for insurance companys.
Seen burnouts in driveways, cops show up and told us to calm down. No ticket
Now if you were spoted doing such on public streets IE, infront of your house. Oh, it IS ON!! Esp if kids are around. |
