|
|
A long time ago I picked up a power hatch pull down motor and assembly because I wanted to pop the trunk without yanking the key out every time. Well, I didn't realize there were two designs and my 91 obviously uses the harder to find one. I'm not sure when they did the changeover I think some time in 90 but if you need the earlier style I have it! Comes with the relay, track, motor, and a bit of the wiring. I'm not sure how much they're worth. $70 _________________

Damn you Ian, I'm already broke.
Will this work in my 86 Camaro? If so we can make it an even 2 bills for this and the MSD box? |

Was the '86 originally a power pulldown? If so, I think it'll work. I'll bring it down for you to look at if you want. If I remember correctly you'd have to swap sheet metal if it wasn't originally a power unit.
If you do end up wanting it, how about just paying for my dyno runs and we'll call it good? (I mean, not counting the MSD box...) |

I meant his specific car. Not if it was an option. Don't you have to swap sheet metal if the car didn't come with it from the factory? |

Yes, the sheet metal is raised out a bit, verses the earlier "slammer" type hatch latches. _________________

But you'll only get two pulls for $50. |

Yes 86 was a pull down unit. Belive it was the first year that they had them. 82-85 was a slam hatch _________________ kurfbird

PPD was not an option. once they started doing it the car came that way. of course, with a few bolts and a drill anything is possible. both of my birds are "slammers" now. |

Pull down is a cool novelty. Slammer is the way to go for reliability.
In my opinion, of course. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

when i bought my 1991 firebird, it came with a thin rope tying the loop in the trunk lid to some holes where the power motor used to sit lol. I found the whole assembley like what is in the picture and was plannin on doin what that guy in the pic did. The motor assembly i got was from a junkyard 91 that was missing the hatch. the assembly sat in open air for a long long time. the motor is useless, but i got the whole assembley and it is in good shape (car was in california) i even got the plastic piece that fits over the lock cylder intact. Is there an easier or better way to turn a pulldown trunk to a slamdown trunk? _________________ 1991 Firebird L03 T-5 |

Then how does my car not have it? If it was an ASC custom job sure, but they are factory GM parts. |

Sorry Al, buying Ian's dyno pulls for it.
Mine quit the night the baby was born. Gears got all ground up and it was stuck in the up position. No room in shop and it was gonna rain, so I welded it. Just don't like slamming it to close. |
