Why does it have to be on the rear of the block? I can't see it while it's installed, and I don't feel like pulling it, but looks like I'll have to because I have NO idea what motor is in there, and don't want to buy parts that won't work.
Is there a better way to tell, or am I stuck pulling the engine? I tried a mirror, but there is too much crap in the way that's "conveniently" in my way. |

| Move some crap out of the way and it can be read in the car. If you think it might be the stock engine you can check the suffix codes on the front of the deck surface on the block. It's right behind the alternator on my cars. That will have suffix codes, which don't do much without the block casting number, but will also have the last 6 digits of the VIN# of the car that the engine was installed in. If the VIN matches your car then you know what you have. |
