well, any of the cheap ones are likely crap. Wink

you might keep an eye out online, and in the TGO classifieds. I picked my CF - DF Clutch up for around $150.

CF - DF = Centerforce Dual Friction just in case you didn't pick up on that.

John is a geek and likes to speak in abreviations IMHOFWIW Wink

Stay away from cheap if you are making decent power. I prolly put at least 200 ponies to the ground Laughing and my Zoom clutch can't hold it very well.

Umm, My camaro was putting out 200 hp easy and I didn't have anythign special, a 350 with t-5 behind and it was a schucks clutch setup, crap is relative, it all depends on what you want, cheap ones will work just fine, unless you have some built engine or whatnot.

So if Hammer has 400, then mike has 380, and I have about 500. I can dig. Very Happy

Not lost on me but unless hes putting out that much as well why should he go and buy all thatwhen he can get a kit for 150 bucks and be done. instead of 3-400.

I'm sorry Mike, I was giving you credit. Didn't mean to make you dream about having more than you actually have. Cool

With the dyno coming up I decided that my goal would be 200 RWHP so I could hopefully exceed my own expectations. Thumbs up

Ask Dewey, he knows how hard it is to get past that magical 200hp number. Laughing so hard it hurts

Naw, it's easy to get past 200 hp. Stock 305 TPI motor with 144k miles, stock manifolds, 204.3 on the ground Wink

I'm running about 300 rwhp. It's my daily driver, so I don't want to put in some thing that's going to break easy. I repair commercial jets for a living, so I like stuff that's over engineered. I was hopeing to get pointed in the right direction. I don't want to drop 200 -500 for a clutch and find out it's not going to hold up or that others have had problems with it. So any suggestion would be great . DOC

Well, both SPEC and CenterForce are proven performers. Might catch a break after Christmas, and find a good deal for one online. With a performance motor, I wouldn't skimp on the clutch myself.

sometimes hard to get a straight answer out of here doc - we are all so damn excited that there was a post Wink

300rwhp is pretty stout - what combo are you running and do you have pics of the car (or maybe submit it for readers rides)?

Cheers,

My firebird is a beater, i'd be embarrassed to put it in any readers rides. There isn't a straight panel on it. As far as the set up it's a canadian car, tpi 305, t-5, some sort of cam, that was installed before I bought it, 3 inch exhaust dual free flow cats and a glass pack. I was told there was also some head work done to it. Other than that, stock.

Sounds like a stock replacement clutch would serve you well. Your horse power estimate might be a little high if the 305 is fairly stock. Smile
