Im getting pretty fed up with crap going wrong on my car, such as brakes, exhaust leak, tranny and all the other things i have already fixed. My parents are thinking of co-signing for a loan to get about $4k to fix the problems on my car. Here's what i want to do but dont know if it will be to expensive or where to go to get it done cheap:
Headers
Convert to 5spd transmission
Fix brakes (prob. just brake booster)-Do on my own
Maybe a Aluminum drive shaft?
Mike (Schultzy) i know you did the 700R4-5spd swap, how much did it set you back and did you run into any problems doing it?
Any ideas if 4k will cover all this? |

Just buy Jess's car and be done with it!! Keep your car for spares, and get back on the road!

Headers/Ypipe = $400.... add $100 for miscelanious parts
5 Speed conversion you need:
Trans $1000-1500 (For a good non thrashed one, rather than who knows used)
$350 clutch
$200+ for clutch lines/pedals
Good luck finding a bellhousing
$50-350 for a flywheel
Not worth it IMHO, But if you go that route and really intend to keep the car, get the Tremec 5speed, and I think they have a whole kit now for our cars.
Not sure the price of a brake booster.
DO NOT get a used factory aluminum shaft. After research I've seen too many brake or twist, like mine's doing. Get the Lingenfelter 3.5" one it's like $270 |

Ok, after doing some research i have decided to go with a Pro-Built 700R4($1610), Aluminum driveshaft from summit racing ($329), Edelbrock headers/Ypipe also from summit racing ($325), Eibach Pro Kit (1.3''/1.6'') and then if i have left over money i'll buy some other goodies. Wont find out for a couple of days if my parents will co-sign but if they do the birdy will be back on the road ready to eat more rice... MUAHAHAHAHAHAH MAUHAHAHAHA Muahahahahahaha
BTW, will headers make the exhaust louder especially since i had an exhaust leak? I want it to be louder but dont want to go out and buy an entire exhaust system or bother with a cut out right now. |

Headers wont make it louder, infact manifolds seem to have the louder sound. The muffler is where you're going to get your loudness. |
