Not a huge fan of the 700 myself either. I've only had one, the one i built for the formie, and I tried to build it as bulletproof as possible.

So we ran into our first snag. We got everything all buttoned up, got fluid in the trans, went to put it in gear and we've got nothing reverse or forward... when you move the shifter its like the trans isn't even there. I did a search on TGO and can't find anyone else who had this problem.
-TV cable is adjusted.
-Shifter linkage is new and hooked up correctly.
-Transmission just completed a trip from minnesota to here in Hillsboro when it was pulled.

Only thing I can think of is if we did something wrong putting in the shift kit. We did it with the trans out, and completely followed the directions, it's possible something isn't right I suppose.
Do you guys have an idea where I should start?
thanks for any help

Make sure the valve that connects to the shift cable is actually connected.

Sounds like a lack of fluid.

Thats what I figured at first, but when I checked it, it was roughly a pint low. I didn't think that would be enough to make a difference

Need to make sure the lever actually shifts.

And definitely check after it's warm, and has been run through all gears.

Did you make sure that the torque converter locked in? If you stack it that will be a problem. Not sure if it would cause this.

I made sure the TC was in the right way. I was told you spin it around while you put it in, and when it's all the way in you shouldn't be able to fit your fingers behind it.
Her dad did discover today that the cable fell off like Brandon said. Rolling Eyes Thanks for the tip!
