Hey all,

Just a quick update from Texas Smile

I recently found a job at an OReilly Auto Parts in Austin and am on the fast track to asst manager status. Things are going GREAT! car is running well and looking good down here.

As far as brake upgrades go, I need to do some work on the fronts. I have a scraping sound that sounds like my pads are toast or my wheel berings are done. Either way, i thought it would be a great time to use my employee discount Very Happy

Getting a reman master cylinder
new rotors
reman stock calipers (at $8.25 a piece i figure why not! )
inner and outer wheel bearings
bearing seals
and Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic Pads

I know its not really an "upgrade" but its the most i can fit under my 14" front wheels and all this for just over $100 is pretty good. hopefully this weekend! Get down and Boogie!

~JAKE

Laughing

How's CSK/O'Reilly's treating you?

Nice job on the upgrade. You already do the work or just buy the parts so far?

Congrats on the job!

haha yeah laugh it up Ian... your brakes are the size of my front wheels! Laughing

i should get it done this weekend. I'm digging the discount for sure, cost +10% and the laid back atmosphere is nice. Too bad about 80% of our clients here are mexican i don't know spanish! haha i'm learning though.

anyone ever used the ThermoQuiet pads?

I haven't. The CSKs around here have just started carrying Wagner instead of Raybestos pads. They had a promo and gave out a free set of pads to each commercial customer so I got a set for one of the guys 4wd rigs. Hopefully they aren't too bad. I'm sure they're great for street use.

Got them on the front end right now, im actually really happy with them after I learned my lesson with the cheap pads I got at my work... Rolling Eyes
No noise, and they haven't toasted any rotors yet.

I hear they do treat the employees pretty well at O'Reillys. I have considered dropping an app.

I think the thermo-quiets are made by Wagner.

I think wagner makes our napa pads but not sure. Anyway, I've been running the best napa brand ceramic for several years now. They work great. Even up on the crazy canadian run my brakes didnt fade. Kinda scary though when Rich radios from right behind me saying he doesnt have any brakes left! LOL

Got it all done yesterday! Works great! It feels like it stops harder but maybe its just the butt dyno. I know stock brakes aren't anything to get excited about, but its nice to not have to worry about them ever again. or at least till i get some bigger wheels so i can fit some bigger brakes. Smile

Biggest thing I noticed with the ceramics, was that they didnt fade. Actually bite a little harder with some heat.
