Youtube clip...

Can we embed around here? Never paid attention. Either way, that was an intense ten minutes and literally came down to the final corner. Both drivers received suspensions for next season.

No kidding, that was an A-hole move at the end there by the Porsche.

Bergmiester's suspension I can see, Magnesson's not so much. Pit road move doesn't have that much danger potential that late in the race.

I think it was pretty crazy on both parties. That was a pretty hard bump from Magnussen and it looked like it was after braking, on acceleration. I think that was pretty amazing defensive driving by Bergmeister who obviously was at a disadvantage and lucky to be able to keep Mag behind him.

Even still, when Berg pushed Mag over to the wall, the track actually gets really narrow over there. The wall cuts in hard on that left side and Mag just pushed by anyways.

The dual pass around the Ford GT made my spine tingle. Laughing

Gt2 class has always been fun to watch, and that was great racing. The best finish to a season was a couple of years ago when Caddilac was toe to toe with Porsche in the last race. Lou Giolloti in his partially sponsered C5 stuffed the Porsche in the last turn and Caddy won the series. Speed does a great job anticipating what is going to happen, I remember them saying "watch Lou, the Porsche driver should be scared" then it happened.

I can understand that it's a race and you do what you can, but Burgmiester should have let Magnusons through. Burgmiester was constantly being outdriven and was taking advantage of the small course to weasel his way in. And pushing Magnusons into the wall? What kind of crap is that??? If you get passed you get passed. He should have realized 4 laps back that he was outclassed and should have gotten out of Magnusons way. Burgmiester is a *enter explicit*.

It mentioned in there somewhere that he was bumped from the rear in one of his last races right near the end which is why I'm sure he did what he did. Not that that gives you a pass to do it, just explains why. And as far as I know, it's legal in ALMS to "protect your line" which is what he did. From that perspective it really looks like he shoved him way over into the wall but the track gets real small there. Magnussen didn't care about Bergs line and burst his way through.

Really though, aside from the high price of the crash and the possible danger to Mag, this is the type of racing I like. I think Mag really gave up his ability to call out safety issues when he dove all four wheels into pitlane for the pass. I've won many races in GT in the same fashion; my obviously inferior car blocking the more powerful rig. Very Happy

Yeah I find it boring when drivers drive passively in a race, I like to see competitiveness but Burgmeister knew that he was getting passed, he was no longer blocking his own line but trying to squeeze off Magnusons as a last ditch attempt to not let him by. It's not like there wasn't enough room for the both of them to be side by side.
