Can one of you do me a huge favor, and take a couple of measurements of your fans? I need the following measurements please:

Total width (edge of blades, across)
Distance between upper mounts
Height of the blades
Height from base to upper mount points

Also, if anyone can get measurements off of an LT1 or LS1 fan setup, I'd love those too. I'm getting pretty sick of my clutch fan (overheats in traffic) and my direct drive fan (noisy, overcools on the freeway), so there might be some more Chebbie parts going onto the Mercury pretty soon.

You might want to consider a single fan. Here is a link to a Taurus fan that has over 2000CFM and is readily available in the bone yards. Mush easier to find than a dual fan 3rd gen setup.

Sweet!!! I might score one for my Mazda if it's not too tall.

I have a modded LT1 fans in my car I can get some measurements for you tomorrow. What radiator are you using? If it is thicker than stock I would get a dual 3rd gen fan setup. Honestly the other fans end up looking like a hack job after you get done cutting them to fit.

It's cold in the garage so these are approx.

Top Mounting arm distance: 13"
Overall Width (blades): 24"
Height from lower mounting to upper mounting: 14.5"
Depth from blade face to backside of motor: 4.5"

@ Dan: Interesting. I had heard of the Taurus swap, but I was not aware that they were dual-speed. The reason I wanted to go with duals was because of the noise and vibration factor of a single.

I have the fan from a 1984 Buick Century in my S10, and it has two settings: off, and 747 on takeoff. Rolling Eyes

@ redlava: Radiator is out of a 1962 Ford Galaxie. Pokey pokey Razz

@ Ian: Thanks man!!! You rock. Now I've got to convince myself to go out in the cold and measure my shroud. Laughing

I don't know if you ever saw it but Randy (the guy I worked with) had that little blue 80 rabbit and ran a taurus fan in that thing. Moved a TON of air. Pretty common swap actually. My buddy Steve picked one up for the mudbathfinder too.

I thought he had a red Golf. Confused

Looks like a trip to Pull-A-Part is in order to see if that's an option though. Would keep the car nice and Ford too. Very Happy

I'm running a taurus fan in my 69 big block:

It did a great job after I bumped my alternator up to a 12SI.
